Keeneland September Yearlings 2021

#321 is a full sister to Tap the Gavel (a MRH colt).

Nicely bred Quality Road colt just hammered at $1.6M (#300)

Quality Road x Catch The Moon colt 1.6M hammer

Going to Laneā€™s End!

Edit: I spoke too soon. Apparently Farish was acting agent for West Point, but Iā€™ll assume for now that heā€™s buying into the partnership.

#272 and #282 to Coolmore.

Seems that I remember this coming into play in a few cases with the Zayat lawsuit, when the creditors were suing him and everybody who had bought a horse from him that had liens on it. There were a few people whose defense was, but I bought at Keeneland, and liens do not follow a horse through Keeneland. They were successful in that argument and got to exit the lawsuit.

He sold for 125K. I didnā€™t see him. Was he a good looking colt?

Whisper Hill bought #331 foe 1.3M

Coolmore bought the Curlin colt for 1.3M

Finally an Arrogate hammered well. 500K

Another nice looking Arrogate Hammer 550K

Interesting article about bargains-basement runners that turned out to be much better than their sales price.

no love for Mendelssohn ā€¦ hip 412 out of a graded stakes mare with a pedigree full of black type goes for $75K. Also, European turf is going cheap too. No Nay Never and Mastercraftsman both RNA at $45K. Of course, I was just considering breeding my Invincible Spirit mare to Mendelssohn! Slaps forehead!

Turf almost always goes cheap in the Keeneland and F.T.

I canā€™t remember if it was Keeneland or FasigTipton, but remember the Turf Bred sale that they had that was a flop? They never did that again.

Galileo, Kittens Joy and other turf sires as a rule donā€™t sell well here. Kittens Joy does better than he used to.

Of course some of the high priced yearlings at the sale are expensive because of their bloodlines, especially the fillies. If they have great conformation and breeding they have residual broodmare value even if they never make it to the track.

I wonder why Zenyatta isnā€™t listed. She sold for 50K didnā€™t she? Did she sell at Fasig Tipton?

Nice Arrogate filly 200K hammer
