Prices are definitely relatively steep and consistent this year. even through book 4; looking very solid.

I am very surprised to see the City of Lights’ sell as they have this week.He was a very affordable option for breeders at a 40k tag these past 2 years. For a sire who only entered stud in 2019 at Lanes’ End; certainly exciting given the quality he is obviously siring . City of Light himself a big, balanced stallion with a beautiful walk.

The yearlings selling by him seem very classy. Totally laid back, beautiful shoulders, lots of substance, pretty necks and heads, and great and feet and legs.
Certainly an exciting young stallion and a very affordable option at $40k (expecting this to change in the near future!)

They’ve just finished Book 2 , that’s why the prices are what they are
 Book 3 begins Saturday.

I’m not really surprised that his (City of Light) get continue to sell well. He did have a 600K weaner in Nov of last year and his get were well received at the sales earlier this year. He does make some nice looking babies, just like his sire does. :slightly_smiling_face:

Are you feeling a little better about Mendelssohn yet?

Wouldn’t it be great fun if his three or four year olds set the world on fire?
He did have some physical characteristics that weren’t as attractive as some, and it’s too bad we’ll never have a chance to see what worked for him, both physically and on the track.

When he retired to stud in 2019–a 4 time G1 winner, Breeders Cup winner, Pegasus winner, with $5.6M in earnings, by a hot stallion, and from a great family–people were lined up around the block to breed to him. Interest in him has certainly not waned in the intervening two years. I think very few people were surprised by City of Light’s success at the sales.

City of Light has some nice get in this session. Though I don’t agree with Snaffle that they all have the same characteristics, he does get some lovely ones.

Justify’s are going well. Colt 675K
