Kelly Farmer Additional Suspension

Thanks for the details.

All the talk here seems to suggest that Farmer got away with a very light penalty. What could possibly have been the argument for CAS to justify lifting the suspension temporarily pending further review? Or was this for the previous 18 month suspension?

It sounds like it’s related to the previous 18 month suspension. The newer one was not scheduled to start for another year.

Probably any good lawyer,

I didn’t realize how old and weathered Kelly Farmer looks these days.

yuck.

Referencing the info in that link, this lifetime member would prefer an OPEN Proceeding in Feb, over a confidential one.

What an embarrassment. And the sad thing is, it’s going to be business as usual at the ring. Horse showing is a den of thieves.

Who wants to compete against people like this who you know are drugging?

how does an honest person compete then?

The Chronicle story fails to explain why the USEF went to arbitration at all. It’s not in the USEF Rulebook. Were they forced into it by the USOC?

Arbitrators have to have some “law” to interpret and apply, and it’s not easy to get one unless there is a contract somewhere that calls for the parties to arbitrate disputes.

Me too. Wasn’t there a positive Ace test, deliberately delaying drug testers, switching horses, positive GABA and positive Cocaine? Horse welfare anyone??

What if a well known equestrian magazine printed USEF’s suspension list once a month ? Then everyone could read it and have access to the info.
Doing so would also balance out the coverage of trainers’ show ring success (such as Ms Farmer’s) with the other side of their careers.

What, if anything, shows up on the PPE ? I guess it doesn’t matter, it sounds like your friend buys the horses anyway. So the wheel just keeps on turning

x2. I feel for the honest folks in the hunter scene, those who put the welfare of the horses in their care before anything else.

The suspension list used to be printed in the USEF’s monthly magazine, along with the recent results of disciplinary hearings. The information moved from the magazine to the website some years back.

Must have gotten too expensive to print and ship.
