Kelly Farmer Additional Suspension

Did you read it? That was set down for Ace and for switching horses for drug report.

OMG- I didn’t read the very last part that said this was for Symbolic. I assumed it was the ruling for Kodachrome and cocaine.

TOO MANY TO FOLLOW- We need a flow chart

My point was that all of this is kind of Symbolic of a big, huge, giant PROBLEM in this industry.

Thank you for saying that

Well, Paul Valliere and Barney Ward would be huge exceptions, then.

But it took years plus a court injunction and eventually the police showing up to escort BW off the grounds where he was spectating as his son competed.and get BW to pay attention to his suspension. PV continued to train and teach, still is far as I know. Maybe it’s time to revive that old thread to see how many supported him because he was/is a very good trainer and teacher. He even gave a clinic at WEF…on an off day when USEF had no jurisdiction,

That whole thing was about as bad as it gets as far as industry reputation. Of course then there was the whole dead Pony at Devon thing…

Still, the silent majority don’t get involved in the BS, just that the minority is getting awfully noisy.

My question and I called USEF today and asked this, why are we paying a drug fee? These people have been caught multiple times for multiple infractions and they still continue to show. So what is the point.

eg: they would have found in favor of K and L

That is not typically sufficient to overcome a fact finders decision

How can someone walk onto show grounds like nothing happened? Surely they are embarrassed. Dont they care about anything… what people say or think. There must be a huge population that supports them which is just so odd.

They just got set down for cocaine in a horse. I don’t think they’re operating under the same system of morals as most of us.

What was their response? And thank you for doing that.

Just got sent to an answering machine. Did not return my call. Called back and asked to speak to a real person and got sent to another answering machine. After that all I got was an answering machine. They obviously had instructions. Backup would be helpful. We need to all question this charge. Will call back again on Monday. So love giving these people all my $$$ for this wonderful customer service

COTH has updated their story to explain that the USEF has an arbitration procedure in its Bylaws which was invoked by Farmer-Glefke. That procedure complies with USOC and Ted Stevens Act requirements and covers USOC Section 9 and 10 issues–right to compete under Section 9 and NF failures under Section 10. COTH says this is a right to compete proceeding.

So now all suspended for drug infractions will invoke the arbitration procedure if they can afford to lose.

Heres the thing (and in response to some earlier posts, I have shown at these same shows up and down the East Coast, in both hunters and jumpers): a lot of their colleagues know that it could be them next week. I’m sorry, but few who succeed at that level are squeaky clean. Frankly, I have come to believe that it’s not possible to be uber successful and be ethical, whether that’s in medicating, physical prep (e.g. putting them on the eurocizer for hours or LTD), or robbing your clients in sales and fees. That’s just my cynical .02, but I’ve come by it through experience.

just go to her fb page and look at all the people who liked and commented how happy they are for them… blech… so no, they don’t care because others don’t either!

Yes, that’s true. Perhaps because it was so egregious that it was not possible to overlook it. The death of a horse due to the kinds of brutal things they did (with someone ratting the others out) would be more difficult to ignore compared with drug residue.

It is surprising that Paul Valliere is still making money from teaching and doing clinics.
I’ve even people list his name as their trainer from their junior days. Yuck!!!

Is he still banned from USEF shows?

The sad thing is that this would never have happened before the USET and AHSA merged due to a USET complaint to the USOC. Hunters and all the other non-International breeds and disciplines wouldn’t have been under the Ted Stevens Act at all. Glefke-Farmer would not have had access to the arbitration that’s necessary to be an NF.

There ought to be some way to insulate the International disciplines from the non-International ones. USE would be wise to look into trying to do that again.
