It’s a shame there’s no mention of the 150 horses she has placed in forever homes in recent years.[/QUOTE]
I’m hoping this is sarcasm?

Sarcasm? no it’s the truth. But a witch hunt is way more fun (that is sarcasm)
Normally I’d be rubbing my hands with glee…
at the arrival of the neighbors to this thread, but I’m still so ticked off about Lefever’s deliberate and cruel betrayal of others - and the fact that the ultimate price was paid by the horses - that I can’t even manage to pop my popcorn much less uncork my wine.
Don’t flatter yourself. Arrogance and celebration by causing drama? Amazing.
‘Eye of newt, and toe of frog,
Wool of bat, and tongue of dog’
‘Adder’s fork, and blind-worm’s sting,
Lizard’s leg, and owlet’s wing’
‘For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and babble’
‘Double, double, toil and trouble,
Fire burn, and caldron bubble’
On this thread there are posters who did acquire horses from this woman and have testified that they were not in good condition. The fact that she did outplace some horses doesn’t prove that she didn’t send others to Canada. In order to create the impression of herself as a re-trainer and outplacer she had to have at least a few people willing to attest to her having done so.
Does anyone else think that “That Guy” who only starting his COTH posting career on this thread, perhaps “doth protest too much?”
Terri, I fully see your point. Most of the horses shipped to Canada come from non racing situations. Many of the TB’s shipped might have raced at some point but are often 10 or more years off the track. QH’s and draft’s and backyard mutts make up the bulk of horses shipped but since TB’s are trackable the TB racing industry is the one that gets the black eye. Ironically the TB industry is doing far more than any other to correct the problem. The problem is that 200 anonymous QH’s/Drafts/Mutts going north mean nothing when some TV station and wail and wring hands over a “grandson fof the great Secretariat” or some such, landing in a killpen.
I have zero relation to Lefever, absolutely zero. I am amazed at the attention an outsider instantly receives however, this thread was not the start of my career either, as I am a professional lurker. It’s always lovely to see what people say on COTH, it’s THE rumor mill of the East coast horse world. I just hope all are mighty proud of themselves as they judge someone else, then go out to feed their $20k wb they purchased instead of doing something to correct the problem at hand.
I don’t think PA is suddenly going to go “oops”
They would not have charged her if they had insuficient evidence. They can’t just charge her because we’re all pissed off.
“thatguy” I have no problem with horse slaughter done well. I have a problem with cute little 20 somethings that lie out their ass just to play on someone’s guilt to get what they want. It’s worse than a cute chick that makes you take her out to an expensive dinner before she puts out, then won’t get off it.
Oh and “thatguy”
I’ll go out tonight to feed my PMU horse and give a nod to my OTTB buried up on the hill.
Don’t believe all the COTH demographics you read.

If there were a like button on COTH, I would be fully utilizing it… And you’d be amazed what a state trooper with a cause can accomplish in PA

You are the exception, and I applaud you. Zero sarcasm intended.
Actually I doubt it’s the exception on this thread, where I see a whole slew of posters who have OTTBs and contribute to that cause.
As for Lefever, I don’t care if she placed 1000 horses. Her apparent glee at the 120 she sent to death (who she didn’t HAVE to take- her only motive there had to be profit) takes the gloss off any feel-good achievements she may have had.
As someone who has helped several people recover horses taken under false pretenses like this and sent off to NH or kill buyers, it makes me livid. And as someone who had met one of the horses she consigned to death, a nice mare with nothing wrong with her, and sweet kind eyes, well, it’s hard not to judge.

I think you will find that most on the racing forum are involved in racing or rehoming OTTB’s. I have never sat on a wb but have raced 1,000’s of TB’s around NA including Penn.
I think “thatguy” might be surprised at how many of us do have OTTBs in our barns! I have one. And have had two other “rescues.” So, yes, we do walk the walk around here.
Really? Cothers don’t own OTTBs?
I am going to start a new COTH poll… how many have owned OTTBs?
My old screen name was OTTB, my heart horse was on track, be it briefly. The $250,000 spent on him as a yearling didn’t result in a single win on the track, but he had heart, and made a great eventer, and later a jumper and Eq. horse.
The barns I worked at growing up (eventing and H/J were FILLED with OTTBs…)
2 TBs neither ever made it to the track though. I like TBs best. I get them young 3 and 2.5 the last two times around.
that guy…really?
you know what i am surprised at that guy?!! how one can post that she supposedly placed 150 horses in good homes and yet at the same time look over all the other facts out there.
for one,do you really think the state of pa is just on a random witch hunt? please…check in with reality…your sorely in need of it.
secondly…no ottb owner needs applause from you. we don’t have these horses to get applause. i own 4 right now because i love their spirit and i want to give them a second chance at a new career. i just picked up one from canter yesterday…a fabulous organization.
the fact that 4 can be confirmed as going to slaughter is an atrocity. one is too much! should we forget that in face of your alleged 150 good homes she found?
That Guy, you evidently dont understand how many of us have OTTBs…I myself will now go feed my three pasturepets and hope that effects of massive dental work goes away so I can ride my other one tomorrow. We don’t have them so you can pat us on the back. For some of us there is never going to be a substitue for a TB and if in doing so that helps us, that is a bonus.
The issue with the little lying B@#% that I see here is not the horses going to slaughter it is the deception and the way that she lied to and misrepresented herself to the owners of said horses. If she had walked into the barns and said if you have any leftovers I’ll take them off your hands and ship them to Canada … no issue each person could wrestle their own inner demons and feelings about their horse going to the knackers and make a fully aware choice. That is not what happened though is it … ??
She strolled in under the banner of" I’ll find them good homes " using the line to acquire horses who I’m sure cost her nothing and at the very least padded her pocket with 200-300 dollars from the meat man.
"Oh what a tangled web we weave. When first we practice to deceive. "
hmmm
maybe THAT GUY is related to THAT GIRL! perhaps that is why they doth protest too much. i find it hard to swallow that this thread brought him up from hiding. perhaps more like from under the bridge.
this is not the most controversial thread…there have been plenty others.
