Perhaps I will have some more time to contribute to story time later on. I have my own OTTBs to take care of, and other responsibilities in life that sadly, don’t involve COTH. I am amazed how the wagons circle here though, it’s cute.
I am going to start a new COTH poll… how many have owned OTTBs?
If you decide to do this, PM me and I’ll mention it on the Eventing Forum. Heavens, eventers have ridden OTTBs in world class events that were headed for the kill truck (see: Neville Bardos, Nirvana).
I have 4 OTTBs in my barn right now: 3 from Suffolk.

It’s a shame there’s no mention of the 150 horses she has placed in forever homes in recent years.
So if YOU don’t know her, how would you know about 150 horses she may or may not have “forever placed in homes in recent years” if that deed was never mentioned in any of the stories?
One couldn’t just know that that has “zero relation”

Good point!
I imagine that a LOT of the posters on here have OTTB’s or some type of rescue. We have one TB (not raced) and one other horse that was a true rescue, as he was going to ship to slaughter they day I bought him.
The other 3 aren’t exactly rescues, but they certainly are not $20K Warm bloods, either!!
I don’t need anyone to pat me on the back. Spending time with our horses is all I need.
I’m not surprised to hear that she also neglected animals.:mad: It’s too bad she couldn’t have been charged with animal cruelty earlier…
the story she told me was that her grandfather had been a race trainer, and still had connections at the track that he used to get the horses for her resale business.
i’m a little hesitant to go into a lot of detail, but this is a picture of one of the horses i got from her after two months in my care. i took this picture because i was so proud of how far he had come…he had gained weight, his feet were done, and the pressure sore on his withers (from a poorly fitted blanket) had stopped oozing puss and was starting to heal.
this is him a few months later
and under saddle
he was not a hard keeper, or difficult to live with in any way. he just wasn’t being fed or cared for. and there is no excuse for that.
Your links do not work.
i changed the privacy settings on the album…they should work now.
still not working
links are now working

Good job

I have zero relation to Lefever, absolutely zero. I am amazed at the attention an outsider instantly receives however, this thread was not the start of my career either, as I am a professional lurker. It’s always lovely to see what people say on COTH, it’s THE rumor mill of the East coast horse world. I just hope all are mighty proud of themselves as they judge someone else, then go out to feed their $20k wb they purchased instead of doing something to correct the problem at hand.
Wow, did you come to the wrong board. (Still waiting, btw, to hear if I end up with one of the last BenRay mares–hopefully someone in a better position to breed her will have made an offer!) Was it last year or the year before we had 90+ horses placed through the Finger Lakes listings, with a good chunk going to COTHers like me? I just hope the next time I try to buy a $600 claimer sight-unseen from an east-coast track the trainer doesn’t decide it’s not worth the risk to send the horse to a stranger claiming to be a good home and puts it down or ships it Puerto Rico instead.
To “That Guy”
Le Fevere’s history is a nauseating story. I’ve known of many frauds in the horse world, but hers is far the worst I’ve heard.
May she rot someplace very unpleasant, and I will cheerfully sell you a ticket -1/2 price of course, since you’re such a nice guy- so that you can hold her hand.
As you can see from the I-40 thread, ThatGuy, I don’t object to slaughter as a universal rule. I DO have a problem with lying to obtain horses (and apparently money, too) from owners under pressure to send them to a good home. Sending horses to slaughter’s not illegal. FRAUD, on the other hand, definitely is.
for the record,my current horse (acquired in 1999) is an OTTB.
Shocking…just despicable.
No words!
Geez a Lou, That Guy, if you want to play Devil’s Advocate then be my guest. Quite a few of us are not against properly done slaughter but lying to gain horses for this purpose is beyond belief. The trading of horses for slaughter isn’t actually illegal scamming people is. I also think she will probably get off lightly in court as these things go which is quite unfortunate. But as we have seen, she is blacklisted and I hope it stays that way.
I have a 17 YO ex chaser in my barn now. Was never supposed to come sound yet he’s still with me and he’s sound and happy. Waiting for one that I bred to come back to me and have contact with the other owners.
Don’t assume you know people on this board, especially this section.
Terri
geez. Only 23 years old. Awfully young to have become such a despicable person. Wonder where she learned how to be that way so quickly.
She’s got a long road ahead of her. I hope its’ VERY long and VERY miserable. And without horses.
Busy Girl
Per a follow up report by The Paulick Report, KLF has now been fired from her new job as a riding instructor at a local Chester County barn. Per the report, she was new to the facility, her references checked out. But she was on a probation period and they are letting her go now as it is a “family” kind of barn.
I think I remember seeing her compete in the Hunt Teams class at Devon this year.
Anyone know why it took from November when she was charged, until now…for this story to make the headlines?
Great Scott Farm is about 20 minutes east of me, and Honey Brook is 20 minutes west. This story makes me absolutely sick. There isn’t a deep enough hole for her to crawl into. I know what they do to child abusers in prison, unfortunately, she probably won’t serve any time.
Correction - Devon 2011
KLF did have a Hunt Team at Devon in 2011, not “this year.”
Sorry.
They called themselves “Joy’s Jumping Marauders”
USEF
And she took the time (and $) to register not one, but four horses with the USEF over the years…although none seem to have any competition records.
