Kentucky 2025

I think I’m with you. I kind of feel that if any part of the “torso” hits, they should call it a day.

Yeah, apparently it worked for them (today).

Looks like Calvin and Phantom picked up a flag at the 1st brush at the corgi water (provisionally).

I’m bummed there’s zero coverage of Arden - I read her profile on COTH and became a huge fan.

Me too! Seems she picked up a 20

Same, no coverage of Lauren either. I don’t think it’s lack of cameras. I think the tv people are just not great. Like no offense, but I don’t need to see Calvin walking around waiting for his interview or extended views of horses walking around the start box when there are horses on course.

Massive grain of salt because I’m definitely arm chair quarterbacking here… but the commentators remarked on a lack of adjustability/rideability for Phantom. I think it maybe crossed the line between green to the level and actually dangerous.

Agreed! I don’t want to see people warming up-show me the people actually on the clock.

Not that I like seeing carnage, but it seems like most of the stops aren’t part of the livestream. As long as horse and rider are okay, watching the errors is interesting and you can maybe learn a thing or two.

The 4* coverage was awesome. Most riders had at least a few moments on the screen, and if we missed something big, they replayed it (refusals, flags, retiring, etc)

Case in point. Harry’s one minute out still, and there are horses going through combos on course. At least we got to see Arden come home!

Wonder if they will count Tim as a stop? Looked like one to me

I don’t think it was really dangerous riding. Multiple people have taken fliers today and got lucky saves on the back end.

Tim has a purple P on his ticker. Is that the frangible penalty?

my thinking is IF he had gone forwawrd-OK, but turning it was an admission he wasn’t gonna get it.

Agree. Felt to me like he accepted the stop but to benefit the horse’s education, he kept working through the issue on that initial impression.

Agreed - doesn’t seem to be lack of cameras as it looks like most of the jumps have stationary cameras focused on the jump. Throw up the replay of a glance off / stop from those cameras instead of the next rider just walking about near the start box for 2 minutes:)

Seems confirmed that Caroline P. did fall as she’s not running her second. I hope it wasn’t too bad of a fall.

Agreed. I don’t think it was necessarily a fault of Calvin’s. Some others have had lucky moments but this was hairier than most. But they made it home safe and it’s knowledge in the bank, so I guess that’s all that matters.

I have so much respect for the guts it takes from both horse and rider to make it happen out there. Lord knows I’m not brave enough for it.
