Kentucky 2025

And I’m not trying to join the unreasonable witch hunt crew here… just trying to make sense of how an incident like Phantom’s doesn’t draw more scrutiny in the moment. I get that the letter of the rules was respected, but in my humble Smurf opinion a tumble like that shouldn’t be brushed off.

Not his first time at this rodeo, lol

No. Second overall, plus fifth and seventh.

I think Tom had the tie breaker, so 2, 6,7 for Boyd.

No, he’s had plenty of practice with awards ceremonies.

How did they get Buck Davidson for Phantom of the Opera? Could they not spell the German name of the rider?

Harry Meade had a fantastic time! Bummer for Martin and Commando.

I noticed that. Obviously there was some sort of a glitch, because they had that horse’s name listed twice. Once with his actual person, and then again with Buck Davidson.

Thanks for hanging out and chatting through the weekend, everyone! I am always grateful for the free coverage and the discussion/chatter over here

I thought the commentator said Boyd came out ahead on the time, but maybe he was just reading the results they had posted in front of them. The same ones that were posted on the screen.

Boyd taking the top 3 American placings and all in the top 10 is an incredible result.

it is also great for the US that if/when Boyd (and Philip and Buck) retires from upper level competition in 10 years or so, you have Tamra, Will, Ariel and others to lead the way to competitive results worldwide, WEG, Olympics, etc.

They had multiple typos all weekend, whoever does the proofreading needs to be replaced! Pionts for points… Derek DeGrazio :face_with_raised_eyebrow: and they could never agree if it was Nemesis or Nemisis. Worse than the audio lag for me!

This is true. On three different horses over the years I have had them trip and a gallop, go down on their knees and recover and continue to run. No worse for wear.

I heard an announcer say that Jung had won 13 (including today) 5* but I can only count 9 via Wikipedia.

Did that happen on a live stream of one of the biggest events on the calendar with countless people watching? When the whole horse world is concerned about their social license to operate so the sport can continue?

EN’s listing is who has the credential. I groomed my horses alone, but they read other people because we gave those credentials to someone else on the team because you only get so many. So not always accurate. Boyd did have three grooms for three horses, and they are all rockstars orchestrated by the queen herself, Steph!

Oooh thanks for the behind the scenes info! That makes a lot of sense. You’re a rockstar for grooming more than one horse!

I think this is a completely reasonable sentiment. I am not going to knock the announcers for not giving information they didn’t have, especially while there were multiple horses on course, but clearly the live-stream team not have an official who could comment with knowledge and authority on the rules. I’m sure there were many people watching who were confused. On racing telecasts, if there is an injury or an incident that needs explanation, they nearly always have an official veterinarian or a steward on camera pretty quickly.

They both had 10.4 time

Does it go back to the dressage score after that? So Boyd is ahead. I quickly searched the FEI rule but could be wrong that it goes back to DR score.

I believe it’s the collective marks.

where do you get bummer for Boyd and Commando? He finished clear on his first 5*, in second place! There were 5 of the top riders in the world there. and Boyd had 3 in the top 10. It is nearly impossible to beat zterminator.
