KWPN stallion Johnson

Please tell me all about Johnson as a sire
Thank you

Johnson

He is a super sire! I have many firends with very successful offspring. Nancey Holowasko’s Johnson mare went to the FEI Young Horse Championships. His semen is very good and the Nijhof’s offer a very nice LFG! His semen is available right in Virginia. I believe that he will need a big mare.

Big fan of Johnson and his offsrping! We have bred to him 3 times and the 3 resulting foals all full siblings can be seen on our website.

All 3 foals our from our Keur mare Odette N (Houston x G. Ramiro Z x Marco Polo) won their keurings and were named Champion Young Dressage Horse of their keurings- Draganette P, Elcho P and Fahrenheit P.

Dragan now 3 years made Ster this year with the KWPN and is going very well undersaddle, she also qualified for the Royal Winter Fair so will be showing in the Cup class in a few weeks. You can see recent photos of her on our facebook page here:

All 3 of our Johnson offspring are very similar in type, have fantastic gaits and best of all wonderful minds they are easy, easy to work with and love people.

Johnson’s bloodlines are super Jazz x Flemmingh x Sultan and from what I have seen he is consistant in what he is producing. His foals are correct, uphill and modern types, based on our experience he adds length of leg and his foals have lovely heads they are very pretty but best of all they have great minds.

His semen is fantastic to work with we bred our mare all 3 times and each time she got in foal using 1 dose of his frozen so really it does not get better than this.

I would love to breed to him again and will do in the near future.

FYI- our mare Odette is 16.1 very solid like a tank in her build and Johnson added size, Dragan at 3 is over 16.3 h now, Elcho at 2 is a good 16.2 h and Fahrenheit is only 1 and a normal size for his age. Our mare does produce foals that all have been taller than her but I also think Johnson added some size for sure longer legs.

This is our five year old mare Biscaya (Johnson/Argentinus/Goldstern). Biscaya is from the first foal crop of Johnson. I did not breed her, but did meet her dam. VERY old fashioned, and stout. Maybe 15.2 hands. So though Biscaya is not quite 16.0 hands, Johnson did add height and certainly refined. Have to agree with the Prima Equestrian on the temperaments. Biscaya has been easy to work with and loves people. She has three gaits that score 8 and above and always gets comments from the judges on the “good articulation” in her hind leg.

Your mare is stunning Crosiadore, she looks like she would be fun to ride and very talented.

Good luck with her also an intresting pedigree, I can really see Johnson in her!

We have a few Johnsons here in NZ. He seems to have excellent frozen results.

The young Johnsons I have seen have all been brown with little or no white, lovely heads/necks, a bit of length in the back but with an overall attractive athletic look.

Of note is the hind end power and very good use of the hock.

He’s a lovely stallion.

Prima Equestrian, thanks for the positive feedback. This five year old is a very cool filly and has shown great promise for the upper levels. There are a couple shots of your chestnut that look quite similar to this mare running free. Best of luck getting yours started. This one LOVES to show (-:

Okay…I googled and I couldn’t find it. Who sells him in Virginia? I think I have the perfect mare for him and would love to try!

Wanted to update this thread about Johnson.

We are thrilled to report back that our Draganette P Ster KWPN mare [Johnson x Odette N Keur (Houston x G. Ramiro Z x Marco Polo)] recently won the prestigious 2011 Governor General’s Cup Class at the Royal Winter Fair a couple of weeks ago in Toronto.

Photos can be seen here:

It has been a few years since a KWPN bred horse won the Cup I think Popeye K was the last KWPN horse to win.

Presidents Jack Sparrow is a lovely example Johnson x Woldentanz II x Don Primero

Love your mare Prima Equestiran she has a lot of Houston coming through too.

Keswick Equine Clinic sells Nijhof semen. I’ve found them great to deal with, too.
They don’t have Johnson listed right now, but call and ask if you’re interested.

Johnson

We have had Johnson from Floristan, Jet Set and Tango mares. He has given us good movement and the frozen semen is good quality. I don’t think he does well with a medium sized mare. Our yearling Johnson from our Jet Set mare looks like he may be a bit bigger thay we need. Bretton Woods is a Johnson and certinally big enough. We had a nice colt from our 16.2 Floristan mare. Slightly OT but I’ve got a 3/4 blood sister to Johnson (Jazz x Flemmingh) who is so similar to him it is uncanny!

Thanks L&L, we too can see Houston in her she looks allot like her dam, Odette N.

We just love her and now that she is going under saddle she is showing us how much she likes to work, Johnson gives a super mind.

Prima Equestrain your Johnson mare is lovely. Congratulations on her recent success.

Thanks Nancy

Prima’s Dragenette mare has a great personality and was simply lovely to work with. As a braider it is tough with young stock at new places but this mare was fabulous, with a very grown up temperament.

Has any one found a place to get Johnson frozen semen in the US? We’d like to breed our Ferro/Donnerhall mare to him this year.

Baximilliana (Johnson / Ferro) owned & ridden by Karen Lipp

Karen Lipp recently purchased and imported Baximillana, a 2006 KWPN mare by Johnson out of a Ferro dam. I saw Karen and Bea at the Markel / USEF YH Dressage Training Session in Georgia today. The mare is phenomenal and Karen Lipp rides her beautifully. Baximilliana was the 4 yo national champion in Holland in 2010 and looks like she could do very well in the 6 yo FEI classes in the USA this year.

So, the Dressage ring is now for me - but, when I was in Germany I saw a few of his get - at least two being tried @ the GOV auction - and they were cool, cool horses. The hind leg was great, and boy, holy trot & canter - not a good ride for at least one rider who tried it due to the gaits, but he tried his heart out and was quite patient with her. I did notice he was a bit base-narrow, and a couple of the others were leggy & somewhat narrow. Might keep that in mind. If I was to play in the dressage ring…
