Maybe I’m out of touch but this story made my eyes pop out of my head. $200k for a 17 year old pony from The Netherlands? Does the pony have a record in pony hunters? What will a 2 year old toddler do with this pony?

Why is there a 14-day quarantine on a gelding? The Stal Wilten post refers to the pony as he. Assuming the “he” isn’t a typo of some sort that makes me wonder about the accuracy of some of the other details.

But 1 pony for 1 toddler seems hella less ostentatious.

17year old is not that old for a pony anyway, and sure it’s been well maintained.

Keep your eyes in their sockets, horses are bought and sold everyday at those prices.

What will a 2 year old toddler do with this pony?

Get on, do leadline lessons and have fun?

Three days for a gelding from Europe. Mares are longer and stallions longer still. And I’m pretty sure mares and stallions that come into LAX have to go to Davis or a facility in Oregon.

Nice pony and cute. He’s 17-years old and proven so he sounds like pretty much the perfect starter for the tiny tot whenever she’s ready to really ride and show. The kid is 2-years old now. She’s still too young to ride anything at all herself. Any patient equine could give her leadline pony rides for now. But they will figure it out and the kid will get started on something as her resources are endless. And eventually Frozen will be there to ready to go. He’s surely being managed by professionals that will keep him going and ready. He’s a small pony and they are usually durable and long-lived. While anything could happen, he should be good for her entire small pony career even as he ages into his early 20’s. He might even have a long career after this kid ages out and moves on.

Does she need a 200K imported pony? Of course not. No one does. But people spend absurd amounts of money, even more than this,on stupid things all the time. Who cares. I don’t find his price tag unreasonable. And the family has so much money it literally doesn’t matter. Why not spend it on a nice pony?

I can’t believe anyone had to go all the way to Holland to find that…and the pony was named for a Disney movie 17 years ago? The movie was made in 2013.

I am very confused, and perhaps it’s because I’m completely out of touch with the import pony market.

But…from what I can tell, this is a 17 year old small pony with no pony hunter show record.

I maybe could see paying that price for a 17 year old small pony that had won everything everywhere and had won it with several different kids on board.

I maybe could see paying that price for an 8 year old that was pretty clearly going to step out of quarantine and start winning everything.

But…for this pony? Even if it has a solid show record in Europe, that would be in the pony jumpers, which wouldn’t have much value in the US.

And even if it’s a saint? I can’t believe one couldn’t find a saintly aged small pony in California for much less.

They got completely ripped off, right?

Well, the kid is only two, so it will probably by five years before she really does anything resembling pony hunters (never mind jumpers). Assuming she even wants to ride/ show. So by then the pony will be 22, which is not as old for a pony as a horse. But still, old. So yes, it was a terrible deal all around. But for them it’s probably the equivalent of me spending $1 on a horse. And only the best for little Stormi!

But they bought this pony only because he is the most instagram famous creature they could find. The money is entirely for likes and clout online.

I’m 99.9% positive Frozen sold years ago and has been competing in the Smalls here in the US… Not to mention Wiltens post made it seem like that he horse we purchased from a private buyer not Wilten himself.

Also… who the hell cares. When you got stupid money, you buy whatever you want for your kid. The horse is in a great home. We don’t know how much she bought it for, and we probably shouldn’t know or care (lets be real, the daily mail isn’t a great source for anything - especially when it comes to Celebs and horse facts). Let her do her thing.

She spent a million bucks on the kid’s birthday party. $200k is pocket change. What would be the point in someone with zero horse knowledge buying a $500 rescue to not spend time with?

At least this pony likely comes with connections who know how to care for a top caliber pony. She’ll probably lease it out for $50k a year while her kid pets it.

And again, who cares?
