Kylie Jenner buys $200k pony hunter for toddler

I thought were were supposed to be trying to bring people into the industry. If this gets some new people interested, what’s the harm?

I’m jealous I can’t spend that on a pony to love on.

The kid looks completely delighted in the photo. I can only imagine how fun it would be to buy your child a pony. Awfully cute, it doesn’t matter who it is, let’s hope she can be horse crazy like the rest of us.

A fool and his/her money is soon parted…

When it comes to horses I have a flashing neon sign saying FOOL, a lot of us do, the only thing that is different is the amount of money we are being parted from.

I don’t know, nor do I care how much money they have, but I’m betting that my latest purchase at $2200 is a far bigger percentage of my available funds, than their purchase was.

Pass the “FOOL” sign, I’m sure I deserve to wear it on rotation. Same with KBC, I’m saying compared to available funds.

Best laugh I’ve had all week. Entry forms, halter plates, stall cards, etc., should specify “Fool” instead of “Owner.”

I’m next in line. Spent good money to buy back one of our old retired racehorses. He was in PA, we are in Ontario. Have him shipped to NY. Of course he developes strangles about a week later…keep him in quarantine until he and his travelling companions all test clear. I always wanted this horse to ride, and now the horse that wouldn’t place a lick without hopples will under saddle, and no it’s not comfortable. Oh well, we’ll work on it.

Total costs a heck of a lot more to me than $200k is to KJ. I hope her little girl totally falls in love with the pony and riding and has a blast!

I rode a horse once (a standardbred) that paced…weirdest feeling ever! You cant post to it and sitting to it is mightly hard

 True that! My daughter says it’s smooth, I think she’s full of it. Supposedly you can push him forward and he’ll go into a trot for her. I need to work on my balance a bit more after a couple years of no riding before I feel comfortable doing that! 🙃

Ugh. Yes. So true. I just did some mental math. My very modest pony purchase was wildly more fiscally irresponsible than this adorable six figure pony.

No, no, no! Doing the mental math is a terrible idea for horse people. Especially when you have already made the purchase.

I’m sure the amount of money I spend on my (leased so not even MY) pony is a significantly higher proportion of our household income than the Jenners. My eyes might pop out at the price tag, but let’s face it: if I could, I would, too.

We can get a provincial grant if we show, you submit all your showing costs, training for horse and rider, a whole bunch of stuff, and you get money back…

I actually filled it all in one year, but the stress of knowing how much I had spent wasn’t worth the $50 I got back…

I was under the impression that Frozen was sold way back as well. I follow Mel, one of Stal Wilten’s junior riders on Insta and Frozen was one of his ponies. Super, super cute.

THIS! I spend more monthly on my horses’s “rent” than my own living expenses. I think some might consider horse people even more insane than the Kardashian/Jenner crew lol

I would be horrified to sit down and truly figure out what percentage of my household income we spend on our two horses, I’m sure it would be much higher than the purchase of this pony for Kylie in the grand scheme of things. And I don’t show, and do my best to keep my horses affordable. Well cared for, but probably not the same kind of care this very lucky pony is going to get!

What does this mean ?

A friend’s husband made a pie chart of their expenses. Horses were an alarming chunk of that pie.

Oh God, why would he do such a thing? That’s horrying. We all know but we don’t need to see it in data form…

No one questions a pony that sells for that (or more!) and goes on to show career.

This pony will likely just be a pampered pet. I am sure all the parties involved are happy so what is the big deal?

And as seen in some other comments, some of us, me included spend a huge amount of what we earn on our horses and ponies. The math can be very scary for sure…we have only ourselves to answer for that!
