La Mundial: Horrible Customer Service - refusing to make boots UPDATE post 138

If the OP wrote a check to LM directly and not F, there is absolutely no reason she needs to sign the POA. None. LM’s action against F is NOT on behalf of this customer regarding these funds but on behalf of itself (LM). So, the POA should not be holding up her boots. If the funds were transferred by LM to F, then that can be handled by LM’s counsel through the POA LM granted to it.

I’m glad to hear LM is still in business and making a comeback. I love my boots, and would buy another pair in a heartbeat. They fit beautifully, look very nice, and broke in the first day. fg

Thanks horseflyer, for making me not look like a troll. I was just quite honestly trying to give another perspective on the situation. Not that I know anything at all about it, I don’t. But from what I read, there seemed to be a very simple explanation for why things were being done the way they were being done.

Gumshoe, you were so spot-on it was awesomeness.

Add SillyHorse, Quinn, and farmgirl… to all four of you, thanks for your kind words. Very much appreciated.

Roberto said he connected with the OP today by phone, so hopefully everything is moving along for her now.

I did speak with Roberto today. He said that he would be looking for my documents on Monday and that my boots should begin being made then. No date was given just ASAP. I will be patiently awaiting boots. Thanks to all who shared advice and suggestions as well as support.

I sincerely hope you get your boots very soon, and that they are wonderful.

So I guess, the people who ordered the boots before this whole thing surfaced…the ones who got the boots that don’t fit are just screwed out of $ and boots… :frowning:

When you say things like this without reading the entire thread, you add to the misinformation and lead other people astray.

Roberto Rivas, owner of La Mundial, has said repeatedly (through me, whom he’s asked to speak for him, due to language and time) that he and his team will stand behind every pair of La Mundial branded boots, no matter who made them.

Period. Full stop.

I year or so ago I ordered La Mundial boots. When they arrived, I was not happy with the leather on one of the boots. I contacted them, sent pictures, and they said they were going to make me a new pair… ASAP. They did!! While it would have been nice to not have to go through getting another pair made, they totally stood behind their boots and wanted to make sure I was 110% happy… and when I got the new pair, I was 120% happy!!

I have tried contacting La Mundial for over a year now. They sent my boots that i paid $1400 for that did not fit whatsoever. They also did not include all of the extras i paid for. When i tried contacting them they sent me falsified copies of my receipt. The last i heard back from them was from Silvia Leon say this: "Dear ,

Let me take it up with the shoe maker to review your pictures with your order. I will be replying again your email, today.
Regards,
Silvia L.
La Mundial Custom Boots"

I never heard back from her or anyone at all since then and no one will return any emails or phone calls. This email was on January 21st. I am one such person who i guess was screwed out of money and boots. I am very upset that this company has taken my money and refuses to respond and makes things right as well as give me an answer as to why they would blatantly alter my receipt when i have the original. I am not the only one in my situation in the area i live. I do not recommend this company at all.

ycds29, if you have read this entire lengthy thread (but maybe not - 6 pages is a bunch to get through!) you know that La Mundial experienced a difficult schism this year when their equity partner performed a nonpayment and about-face after two years, only to attempt (and fail) to start a competing brand fraudulently using LM paperwork and their name.

The brand name is 116 years old, founded by the Rivas family, and Roberto Rivas, grandson of the founder, has personally instructed me to aid in making sure everyone who has purchased LM-branded boots - whether made by the Rivas or by Fabrica - is fully supported by he and his family. I have published on two threads on this forum an official letter by Roberto, and the OP on this thread has received a personal call from Roberto.

Therefore, please forward all your documentation to me at holly@horseflygroup.com and I will immediately forward to Roberto, and continue to follow up on this matter. If you know of anyone else in a similar situation, please give them my email address.

On behalf of Roberto, as I know he will be offering the same personally - I pass along the apologies of the Rivas family.

Horseflyer,
I have read the entire thread. And whether or not they are having problems with some other company is not my business. They took my money and gave me a product that is not what i paid for. They have not returned any emails/phone calls, have not fixed any boots, have not given me a refund and the last time they did email me back they sent me a fraudulent receipt. I certainly will be emailing you but as i do not have a contract with you it does not help me until i have someone from the La Mundial company fix the problems they have created. For me $1400 is a lot to spend on show boots and i put my trust in the company and the product i paid for was quite disappointing. Not only that, Silvia Leon blatantly sent me a receipt where they tried to alter it. That is not just bad business, that’s complete dishonesty. So sure i will email you as well just like I’ve emailed everyone else in the company but until they fix this problem i will continue to share my experience and warn others of this dishonest behavior. When they correct this problem that I have been trying to fix since Dressage at Devon of 2012, then i will surely make others aware. Until then I have been scammed by this company.

If you read the whole thread, somewhere in there, at least once, i said exactly as you have said - it’s not your problem. Of course not. It’s La Mundial’s problem and responsibility to fix it. That is what Roberto has also said, and has promised to fix. So far he is delivering on those promises. I do not get involved with companies who do not live up to their promises. If Roberto fails on anything I’ve been working with him on, I will be the first to denounce him.

The other company has shown themselves to be less than ethical. I do not know who Silvia is, but I became involved after the split with Fabrica.

I have said this before but am going to say it again.

If Roberto was so willing to deliver on this promise it would not take someone coming here and saying something to get things fixed. This person has contacted this company and continues to get no help. Now maybe, by going thru you, they will get it resolved but why should it take going thru you to get it resolved? Why does a person have to find you, this special person, before Roberto does what is right?

Ditto time infinity.

Also, for YEARS there have been complaints about delayed orders, boots not as ordered, and the company refusing to stand behind the product. And… some people who got the boots they wanted and were happy. But enough unsatisfied customers to be a red flag. Only now, suddenly, now that LM has an unpaid PR rep, all will be made right in all respects forever and ever amen…

If you post on COTH anyway.

Sorry, but in my book that’s not how customer service is done. I hope everyone who posts here is made whole and gets some satisfaction, but that’s not going to be enough to wipe away a history of bad service in my book.

FWIW I was thisclose to ordering LM boots TWICE at AETA and came home and googled and found horror stories both times and so didn’t pull the trigger. The bad service stories have been ongoing for at least 2-3 years.

My 8 point (or whatever it was) post laid out everything as succinctly as possible. One of the points was FABRICA had the money AND the order paperwork. Exactly how is La Mundial/Rivas family supposed to find the people that Fabrica took orders from using the LM name?

This is why I am monitoring this board and others.

Again, this poster has contacted LM (per their post). LM has not gotten back to them.
If LM wanted to fix the issue they would get back to them and ask for the information you are asking for. But no, they continue to ignore. Fingers in ears saying la la la, can not hear you.

I appreciate what you are doing Horseflyer. But this post doesn’t resonate well with me. LM did business with Fabrica; they allowed – and knew – people were ordering boots (really for the LM name–most people, had no idea they’d essentially subcontracted to Fabrica). If LM had no idea who was ordering they had no business allowing their name to be used. The best thing LM could do is to start taking responsibility (which it sounds like they are doing here and there), and not making excuses for their bad business venture.

Read back a bit. The story goes, F was taking orders using the LM name and paperwork when they weren’t authorized to do so.
