Impressive day of racing at Belmont on the fourth. EFFINEX noses TONALIST in the Suburban then LADY ELI goes wide and destroys the oaks field.
Lady Eli ran the 1-1/4 in 1:59 and 1/5 on the turf course. Anyone know the race and track records on that course? Seems really fast especially for a 3-y-o filly!!
She was so far off the pace until the jock asked her to get moving and boy, did she
Nice win for Lady Eli.
Close on Tonalist but a great race.
They should have ran her in the Belmont Derby, not the Oaks. She would have won that in a canter.
This is a serious filly. Could be the best American trained turf filly (that was not an import) ever.
Ok, I found it. The race was run on the “inner turf” course where the record, set in 1994, is 1:57 4/5 held by Paradise Creek. He would have been 5 at that time.
1:59 and 1 is awesome on any course in my book!
Lady Eli has a most interesting pedigree. Mr. Prospector through a Chester House stallion? Euro turf female side is nice to see.
Her 2nd dam, Kazadancoa, has a fascinating story … http://www.runnymedefarmky.com/news/foundation-mare-kazadancoa-leaves-lasting-mark/ Great female family, and explains why in the world her sire is the G1 but non-commercial Divine Park
Thanks. Very interesting.
Just saw on Paulick Report that Lady Eli has laminitis.

Just saw on Paulick Report that Lady Eli has laminitis. :([/QUOTE]
What a huge shame.
Such sad news, I hope she recovers.

She was just brilliant in recent outings. Was hoping to see her in Saratoga. Hope she makes it through to race again.
I also am hoping she can pull through this. She was brilliant in her last race. Was looking forward to seeing her future performances.
Ah for the love of Jesus, sometimes I wonder why I follow this game at all. Just when you get excited about something, you turn the corner and get a kick in the nuts.
Really hope she pulls through. She had superstar written all over her.
Poor Lady Eli.
I hope she recovers.
So far, so good

Jingles for the lady.
Laminitis is an insidious disease. Pray LE survives and the connections are smart enough to retire her.
Has anyone heard anything about how Lady Eli is doing?
Has anyone heard any updates?

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Lady Eli, the undefeated Grade 1-winning 3-year-old filly, continues to do well in her battle against laminitis, trainer Chad Brown said Thursday.
Brown has spent the better part of the last two weeks at Belmont Park, where Lady Eli is based and is getting 24-hour care by his staff and weekly visits from a top-notch veterinary team. Brown, back in Saratoga for opening day Friday, said Thursday that doctors are “extremely pleased with her progress, and they’re cautiously optimistic she’s putting this behind her.”
Brown said the veterinary team caring for Lady Eli has established a set of goals for the filly to achieve on a weekly basis, and thus far she has met them.
“I am personally pleased with how she’s moving and her overall condition and attitude,” Brown said.
Brown said Lady Eli will remain at Belmont Park because “that’s where she is most comfortable.”
