LADY ELI

Sounds hopeful! Thanks

Thanks for the update. Glad to hear she is hanging in there and meeting her weekly goals

Another positive update from today; http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/93274/lady-eli-showing-improvement-from-laminitis

Good News!

She is doing very well:

Good as this news is, I really hope her connections think long and seriously about returning her to racing.

Is there any reason you think they wouldnā€™t?

I do not know her connections, and obviously they have taken great care of her. I did not mean to imply that they have not and will not in the future.

It is just that laminitis is such a beastly thing. My experience (not with racehorses) has been that it sometimes recurs under stressful activity, and racing certainly qualifies as that.

She jogged for the first time today.

Saw thisā€¦ was tickled to see that sheā€™s continuing her road to recovery. I hope she races again but OK with me if she doesnā€™tā€¦

Is the fact it was caused by an injury as opposed to a systemic issue 9like cushions or massive systemic infection) make a come back more likely and reasonable?

Does anyone have any updates on her? I know she had a couple of works post injury but when I checked equibase it had been awhile. Did she get bred?

Got my curiosity going, so googled, and found this from earlier todayā€¦

BREAKING NEWS: Undefeated Lady Eli, who has not raced since stepping on a nail and developing laminitis in both front feet last July, is back at the Belmont Park barn of trainer Chad Brown and could soon be ready to resume breezing, with a tentative goal of being ready to run later this summer at Saratoga Race Course. The reason Lady Eli hasnā€™t breezed in a while is that she had some very minor setbacks but is all better. She is galloping every day and could work in a couple of weeks. Chad Brown says the owners want at least 6 to 7 workouts for Lady Eli before she runs again, so if all goes right, Lady Eli will return at Saratoga, but the owners are in no rush and will take their time with her.

Cool! Thank you!

Letā€™s pray all goes well with her. She foundered in all hooves, so a return to the track is quite remarkable.

Got my fingers crossed for her that she makes it back successfully. Would love to see how she runs as I really liked her.

All 4? Both the linked articles on the first page said just frontsā€¦

You could be right. Maybe I have confused her with another horse. My caregiver has taken my glasses and hearing aid away for fear I will harm myself with them so Iā€™ve had to depend on what factual information gets through my dementia.

Lady Eli was breezing at Palm Meadows this winter, but had set backs after a breeze. She was on the same schedule as my filly. She just started galloping this week. She had been off for a bit and jogging the past couple weeks. My good friend is her regular exercise rider.

Got my fingers that sheā€™ll stay sound, if not to race at least for breeding. She is one classy filly.

Another baby step forward.

Lady Eli worked a half mile on the inner turf at Belmont this morning almost one year to the day that she stepped on a nail returning back to the barn after winning her last race.

Chad Brown said he is taking it slow and going day by day with no race targeted yet.

Fingers crossed she comes out of this work with 4 clean legsā€¦
