Lainey and Frodo Thread

Someone on the other thread suggested opening a new one for news, so here it is. For those who don’t know, Lainey Ashker and Frodo Baggins had a horrific fall. Frodo was sent to the clinic (though he couldn’t walk in the trailer and had a trach), and Lainey is alert with a fractured (?) jaw. If anyone has updates, please post them!

Sending thoughts and prayers…

Jingles from PA for both

Jingles

Jingles for Laniey and Frodo ! Please, please, please let them both be ok!

jingles for both rider and horse. what another sad day for the sport.

Oh no! We just came from the park. I hope all is ok. Any news on the horse that fell at the foot bridge?

Jingles from NC for Lainey & Frodo… she is such a great rider and Frodo is such a great horse…

I hope we hear an update soon…

Prayers for wonderful and brave Lainey and Frodo. I hate straight faced fences with something for a horse to duck under.Bad bad luck for a very accomplished pair. hugs to Lainey’s mom and the rest of her family too!

We were there today and left after they took Frodo away in the van.

It was too sad for us to watch anymore. It was my husband’s and my first time there, or watching any X-C for that matter, and we’ll not go back. I knew that it was dangerous for the horse and rider, but seeing the black tarps up in person really drove the point home. It was just too sad.

I’m sorry if this offends anyone, but it is my truthful reaction to the situation.
I pray that rider and Frodo (what an awesome background he has!!!) make it out of this one.

Oh cr*p!!! Sending HUGE jingles for Lainey and Frodo. I just saw her last weekend and she was really looking forward to Rolex. I haven’t watched the feed yet because the on demand isn’t loaded yet. I hope they are both ok!

Jingles for them both… I know we were all hoping something like this wouldn’t happen (we always hope that, of course, but now in particular given recent history)…

Sending prayers their way… please update if you hear anymore on their conditions.

you have a legitimate reaction - one horse hurt or lost is one horse too much. Same for the riders.

Hi Everyone,

My Hub and I were right in front of the Flower Basket when Frodo suffered a complete rotational fall.

The tarps went up, it took quite a while to get Lainey off the course.

I found it very encouraging that it took more time to move Frodo; as most of us are aware, if the injury is catastrophic, the horse is removed fairly quickly.

The tarps were up for almost an hour, AMAZINGLY, the vet’s brought out a second trailer with a movable floor, Frodo was loaded into the second trailer and taken to a nearby vet clinic.

Keep jingles, prayers and positive thoughts for Lainey and Frodo.

And one more thing…keep jingles, prayers and positive thoughts for Karen and Hugh Knows.

Unforunately they were held up in the galloping lane parallel to the Flower Basket. They had to wait quite a while before being able to continue (like, at least 15 minutes if not closer to 30)

Massive jingles to Laine. I saw her horse go down last year at Jersey Fresh, and it was the most horrific, sad thing I’ve witnessed. No one should have to go through something like that twice…

Thanks for the update, I’m sorry you had to witness that.

Holding tight to positive thoughts for both horse and rider tonight.

Thank you for the update, that must have been really, really hard to see. I’m thinking about Lainey, her family, and of course Frodo tonight…

Oh, no! How awful. I left right after Karen O’Connor, about 3:30, probably just before it happened. Major jingles for them…

Caitlin

Jingle, jingle, jingle!!! Oh please not another catastrophic injury!!! :frowning:

How terrible!
I was watching the webcast, then left for dinner and come back to all this! How tragic for Laine to go through this twice… hoping that Frodo is going to be alright!

Jingling like mad for Laine and Frodo.

We had been watching the webcast on and off all day, but I ended up leaving the barn early to go home and try and sleep off a migraine. The boss called and told me when they crashed…nearly impossible to try and sleep when you are worried sick  I was much relieved when he called back and said that Laine was alert, but had a broken jaw. Still jingling…very worried about Frodo.
