For those riders who have not yet run a 5*, I am wondering if running a 4* at Kentucky is a more progressive step toward running their first 5* than doing a 4* at other venues. Because of the venue at 5* time, the atmosphere, the livestream production, etc. & so on. Even if the 4*'s aren’t part of much of this, it is going on all around them. I don’t know if the exposure would matter or not.
Only 1 Canadian so far!?

Excited to see Zara Tindall, Kevin McNab, and Tom McEwen, but a bit disappointed they’re the only truly international entries (i.e. not based in the US most of the year). I suppose we have until the end of the day still.
There are quite a few planning for Lumehulen this year. Most of the 5* horses in the 4* at Kentucky will be heading there.
@OverandOnward there are only 3 U.S. riders entered at Badminton this year and 2 of the 3 are cross entered at Kentucky (LCC Barnaby & Vermiculus). I get the sense that team management pushed for everyone to aim for Kentucky this year to truly level set where everyone stacks up against one another. I think it’s a great strategy, actually.
We’ll find out today but many of the Europeans (and the Prices) do typically enter at the last minute. Regardless, I’d say the quality is very high for both the Europeans and the U.S. riders entered at this point.
Palm Crescent had a 20 at their last outing so that might have changed their plans
We do now have a German entry in Alina Dibowski and BARBADOS 26!
Bummed that MJ isn’t coming (per Eventing Nation). Always such a masterclass to watch him in every warmup and rounds.
Me too! I’m an absolute, unapologetic fangirl over that horse. What a cute pic!
I got a Tsesterleg hat from his owner last year by the BD statue.
A whole bunch of recent adds - Sandra Auffarth, Yas Ingham with two, Ollie Townend, and a couple others for international entries. Now we’ve really got ourselves a competition!
Woot!
Maxime Livio has also made it in!
I had posted in the wrong thread earlier.
I’m happy to see some of the MIAs appear:
Doug Payne, Palm Cresent, and more TBs!
Chris is so nice!
Some more great additions including WFP and Grafennacht!!!
Whoo hoo! Now I am even more excited!
28 days until the jogs the countdown is on, I’m so excited!
David Doel is an interesting British rider who is less known in the USA. He is a hard working rider bubbling along just under high profile. A stylish and effective horseman, a successful competitor since he was 14, he has several 5* horses that he has developed himself. His family makes delicious ice cream on their dairy farm and when not riding he sells it in the Farm Shop. Keep an eye on him because he might do very well.
Excited he’s coming!
