We’re getting everything packed and ready to get on the road tomorrow WFH makes it so much easier to prep for this kind of stuff.
I have recently been forced into Roku, and have sort of figured out streaming. I have REALLY enjoyed watching Kentucky from home, never miss a minute. but I have had to stream from the computer. Even if I watched on the tv, I would have to hook computer up to tv to watch. Now I guess I won’t have to do that. But this morning, I did a test run. I didn’t search for USEA, but clip my horse, and that came up. I know they are locked into an unholy alliance, but will I be able to stream it from there. Not sure how to get to USEA.
We’re heading out tomorrow too. Quick overnight stop at the inlaws in Cincinatti and then down to Lexington on Thursday.
DH recently bought a 5 y/o OTTB who never raced, from his breeder. So we’re going to meet up with her after an owners tour of Keeneland.
What fun, all of that!
The amount of stuff I have packed cold and possible rain but then probably fairly nice in afternoons. All the layers plus food plus…plus…plus…. I’m a horrible overpacker. I did fit all of my normal clothes into one duffel bag and limited to 5 of each plus wearing one outfit on the drive weds.
Never mind our goat having babies while I’m gone and setting up everything for my husband to handle when he’s definitely not involved in the normal day to day care. Having to stock up on all feed get everything labeled etc. it’s been one heck of an exhausting week up until vacation lol
I’m also a bad overpacker. Going for five days? Better pack 25 pairs of underwear and socks I have one duffel bag exclusively for outerwear (rain gear, vests, hoodies, etc.)
Right! I mean if my socks get wet I need a backup. I have two reusable bags packed with hoodies, heated vest, coat and lots of rain gear. Multiple pairs of shoes because again if they get wet what then?
I’ve done six months in Asian rainforest on less than that. One bag of hand luggage!
Looks like thunderstorms the whole weekend 90% chance on Friday, 60% chance on Sat and Sunday.
It doesn’t look too bad on AccuWeather
.16” on Friday and .09” on Sunday, Thursday and Saturday look pretty good
60’s and rain is far better than 40’s and rain… whatever … 40’s and rain with wind!
Checked it on Weather Underground as well and it looks like most of the rain is coming overnight/early morning for the most part so hopefully we’re all blessed with nothing more than a light drizzle at the horse park!
We’re in the uncovered section in the stadium Friday and Sunday. Alas but I knew what I was doing when I bought those tickets. Rain gear is packed.
My annual question - will the jogs be livestreamed anywhere? In recent years, they have been livestreamed on the LRK3DE Facebook page. I don’t see anything indicating that they will be part of the USEF network/Horse and Country coverage. I messaged the FB page just now to ask, but no response yet. Anybody else know anything?
I think they’ve done FB/IG streaming before but it’s not the USEF Network official stream, it’s just someone standing with a phone at one end of the jog strip. Better than nothing but it’s not great.
it just occurred to me, but EN is so enthusiastic every year, don’t they provide that? I think they do but not sure.
I got a response through the LRKY3DE Facebook page that they will go live there with the jog tomorrow there.
2pm Eastern Daylight time! See you there!
I have 4 of us texting back and forth about the total overpacking. Of course the guys are taking the minimum possible( being guys) and us ladies are overpacked to the teeth. I have been throwing extra clothes and socks in for DH because he has never been to KY in the wet- the year he went before it was nice and sunny and dry so he has no idea what he might be getting into.
Thank GOD for rentals and Mini Vans. I have a feeling the van is going to be packed sky high just with changes of clothing.
Cross Country App now has the guided course walk up
