Latest SoloShot3 Update

My understanding of the indoor accessory is used for if you are to be going behind objects that might interfere with the tracking device, not if you are riding an indoor.

“no line of sight required. That means your Tag can duck behind physical objects, and SOLOSHOT3 will keep on tracking.”

So, I had a quick go with it last night. There’s a bit of updating to do when you first get it, but really you turn it on and it runs through everything and prompts you as it goes. I just did this while it was charging.

The set up is easy. Basically I’m going to be able to put it in the spot I want, turn it on, walk onto the arena, get on and by then it will be recording. You can stop/start recording from the tag too.
I stayed and watched what it did though, it does some Yoga moves and then starts looking for you.
It lost me once, but I just walked side to side in front of it and it found me again pretty quickly.
The zoom isn’t as close as I usually set up on the SS2, but it’s pretty good and did a good job of keeping me on the screen.

As I was doing it late evening, the sun was directly into the camera (I live on a hill) and the camera didn’t cope well with that so the video was very dark at some times but I adjusted the contrast/brightness on the video player on my computer and I could see it fine. Will try again today without the sun being so direct, and see what happens.

The only thing I’ve got to figure out is another way of getting the video off the camera. It’s a microSD card and I don’t like taking them out all the time and putting them into a card reader (fiddly), but there’s no cord to plug it directly into the computer.

Love that ease of set up. I also love that we can start and stop from the tag.

I did like the tight zoom of the SS2, but maybe that will improve with updates.

If you get an answer to this one, please let me know. I am constantly forgetting to replace the SD card and it is so frustrating to get all set up and then find you cannot record.

Joined! Thanks for setting it up.

I sent a request to join - thanks MR for getting it set up!

Hopefully someone comes up with an easier way to get the footage off the SS without having to take out the SD card. I hate that. I got an email last week saying I’ll be receiving an email within 2 weeks regarding a shipping date - woohoo!!

Me too! I always forget to put it back in and then I am too lazy to run back in the house to get it when I go to turn the camera on before my ride.

Mine is due to arrive this Wednesday, but I will be out of town all week and it requires a signature. The UPS site only gives me the option to send it to another address, not a different date or to remove the signature requirement. Hopefully, I will be able to pick it up at UPS when I return next week.

Shoot, I didn’t know it req’d a signature! I just confirmed my address from the email they sent me a couple hours ago. I’ve never had good luck changing delivery addresses after the fact. :frowning: Hopefully I’ll be around whenever they ship mine out, and you’re able to get yours once you’re back in town!

Ughhhh!! I have yet to be able download footage! I’ve got it to track me well, but it seems to “power down” when not used (i.e. I’m untacking my horse) and I’ve lost all of my videos. Mine is only good for at most 3 hours - that’s turning on to it turning off (updating, positioning and calibrating, tacking up, untacking, etc.)

It is supposed to save footage before powering down, but that’s not happening with mine. It is very important that you exit tracking mode before powering down to save footage.

Tech support software engineers are slated to get back to me tomorrow morning.

If anyone is interested in selling their Second Generation now that the latest model is shipping, let me know!

I just received my SS3, but I have not tried it yet. Once I have it figured out and I am sure I like it better than the SS2, mine will be up for sale.

My SS3 will arrive on Wednesday. I am really starting to get excited and also a little scared if I will be able to manage it…

My SS3 is supposed to arrive on Monday. How long has it been, two years??
