Latest updates on the Philippe Karl Légèreté series for Instructors

New for those of you who are interested.
The Légèreté groups are back and doing well. B. Ravoux (the course instructor) had some Visa hiccups and all courses were canceled for a year. Everything back in order now.

The latest one to open is at Cadbury Farms (Seattle suburbs).
The other 2 locations besides Cadbury are Murrieta, CA and
Riley Meadows farm in Frederick County, Maryland

The Murrieta one was originally in Santa Fe, then Flagstaff, AZ then Murrieta.

Here is a really nice video put together by the Cadbury Farms Organizers. Enjoy!!

Here is the answer to your question:

The main Teacher’s Training Course is for training instructors in the method, and has a rigorous application process. The course is three years long and not inexpensive. But these (or indeed any) farms also have the option of hosting open clinics. And you can audit sessions of the Teacher’s Course, which is very interesting.

Yeah, well, in Europe this might work, but in the US, not so much. You can’t even audit more than once unless you sign up for the entire thing? Um, do the Europeans still not have a clue how big the US is and how much travel time and expense they’re talking about? Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Oh, are they still putting that limit on the auditing? You are right, that is not smart. No-one with a job could commit to audit three 4 day sessions a year, especially if it involved travelling to the clinic.

That said, I would check with the individual farms in the USA to see if they are in fact following that rule for their clinics.

As far as I know, the American Teacher’s Clinics have students and are up and running, so it is working. If you were interested in studying the method, you could contact any of the farms to see if they were running open clinics, or any of the student teachers, to see if they are accepting students. I understand the program seeks people who are already instructors, and a lot of the students in the Teacher’s Clinics are already experienced instructors.

It is working. Surprisingly; what you are saying is what we all said and discussed in this very forum, a few years ago. (back in 2013)

However the Maryland and Washington series have a full list for the Trainer’s Course (3 years). A full set of Full Course Auditors (for 3 years)
Here is the Maryland list for example.

http://brendalantz.com/?page_id=372

The Washington series has even added 3 days or Legerite Preparatory classes. They are packed.
Then there is the 3 days of the Full Course.

They also have guest riders who can apply to ride and be taught by the members of the Full course series so that said members can be evaluated during the testing process of the final licensing stage. The demand is high for the guest ridership.

The only Series that I do not know much about is the California one which is not connected to social media and has not published a list. Perhaps because of the changes in venue and organizers over the years.

The one thing I am sure of is the talent and teaching ability or Bertrand Ravoux (the instructor of this series). I was able to see him in action last year, teaching a clinic and riding a few horses over in France. He is good, very good.

I do find it intriguing that I can not find one single solitary video of this person riding a horse.

There is a single picture of him on a collage video, and, well, it speaks for itself.

That’s nice that they are filling an obvious need. I’m impressed with the distances some of the participants are coming to learn. Good for them!

All snark aside, like I said in my opening post. “New for those of you who are interested”.

You are obviously not interested.

I’m surprised they allow pics!

I agree Senden. P. Karl and his assistants are for the time being on a “lock down” of all online videos outside of DVD production and sales.
Indeed anyone who takes a vid during the series is penalized! Mind you, I don’t know what exactly they do

There are many picture montages on youtube of the series and some vids floating around of P. Karl during his presentations but that’s about it.
However, in the future (about a year or two from now), after US graduates start publicly teaching I’m guessing that will change.

Good to hear that the courses are full, and the full-time auditors registered!

As I understand it, the P. Karl plan with these three-year courses was to train serious instructors, who would then carry on the work with their own students and programs. It’s a different model than you get with many high-profile clinics, which typically run for one weekend, and may sell off ring-side tables for auditors and make it a bit of a social event (judging from what people have reported here on high-end clinics). Compared to that, the P. Karl clinics are more semi-private, and want to encourage participants with a long-term commitment.

As the OP says, once the American graduates are teaching, they will be more visible.

Actually, several Americans were in the first North American session in Canada, which ended two years ago. So presumably they will be testing and graduating soon, before the current cohort from the new American courses.

The graduate that I am aware of is Isla Adderson from British Columbia. I believe she is the first in North America to succesfully complete the course.

The California one is on Facebook. The organizer and host is Kit West. She will be happy to answer questions. I am going as an auditor every day. Some of the requirements have been relaxed somewhat. I am really looking forward to it.
