League of Weenie Eventers :D
I can’t remember when or why it came about.

I think a few/some/a gazillion years ago the in thing was to have cliques…or not.

That I’m still a weenie-wannabe is a sad tale of one-step-forward-two-steps-back.

:: looks around :: Does this League have a bar? And a choclate fountain?
I think eventers ALWAYS have a bar, even if it’s just a few beers in a cooler. You may have to supply a chocolate fountain for the rest of us.

Hey, took me 4 years to do something somewhat resembling a level below Elementary (dressage test, followed by cross rails in sand arena, followed by… more cross rails and some hay bales in a large grass arena). Then 2 more years to do something somewhat resembling not-quite-BN but maybe a little more than BN (XC included some solid jumps in a single large field) and another to do an actual Elementary at a venue that also hosts recognized events. 8 years later, first BN! So, yeah, has to be the right confluence of horse, instructor, time, etc…

This sounds like a blast. A local Pony Club did a fundraiser for Jersey Fresh… This would be a fun idea for people to get their feet wet at, and we have a ready-made venue. Hmmm. I never thought of being an event organizer, but this might be something worth trying.

Sigh… excluded from yet another group. :frowning:  Pretty sure even my COTH username excludes me from this one, eh?

Can I be an honorary member for a bit though? Normally I’m all “I haz balls and I shall jump all the things!” with my gelding… but this fall I’m focusing on little sister. Working up to going to a hunter show (gasp!) and my mom mentioned entering the 2’6" division… to which I instantly grimmaced and said, “Eh… maybe we just see how the 2’ division goes first?” How can the SAME jumps I’ve been jumping for 2-3 years on one horse suddenly terrify me on another?! I’m not used to being a weenie, guys! I need major support!

Weenie is a state of mind, regardless of level. Join away

We can certainly be the sponsor of all the LOWER level riders! We already sponsor several ULRs! We can represent to the Weenie riders too!

After all, we can have Higher Standards, even if we are afraid of higher jumps, yes?

You should make a special soap for LOWERs. Perhaps one with smelling salts for when we feel faint on XC?

I’m in! 2’ 7" is my max…I just like to have fun and only do schooling, starter, unrecognized stuff and if I haven’t been training/practicing/schooling…I stay at Pre-BN or Low BN

OMG, the picture on the top of the page is HILARIOUS…sooo perfect!!!

I just requested to join (Elaine Hanscom) Total Weenie Eventer here
I made us a facebook group. Be patient if you request to join, I’ve got a busy week :)
We actually do run a weenie XC derby (max fence height 2’6" and it’s a pretty soft 2’6") so I need to get in touch with you about buying some prizes.

Of course I forgot in time for the last show of this year, but we can do next year…

That picture is from Las Cruces, where I actually wish I was up to doing BN as Pre-Comp is almost all poles on the ground there

I would like to join! I’m just getting back to eventing with my young OTTB. Sometimes the BN jumps look so big and we have a hard time making time because I’m a weenie and trot a lot. I’m kind of in the same boat as Jealoushe - would like to make it up a bit higher (maybe 1 star) but only after we have a million miles under our belt.

Desert Topaz - I’m contemplating making the trip down to Las Cruces this fall for BN! My eventing group loves that HT.

Hoover the creaky gaited pony and his osteopenia - prone mom are in!

Dressage? We can hardly find a rock-free spot here to practice untracking his hindquarters. Jumps? He’s a keep three on the floor at all times type.

And his predecessor was ditchy over a 3" wide wet spot across a dirt road left by a leaky pipe!

The general consensus is that Las Cruces has the easiest recognized courses in Area X. Last year was my first year and BN actually almost looked doable to me. I think I’ve got a couple of pics of their BN jumps. I’ll look.

Know that you will end up cleaning dust out of your ears for days

Oooh, you’re local to me!!! “Horsey Desert” describes it perfectly.

If you all want to learn to jump hunter-style, I can PM you my barn. The trainer is great with re-riders and complete n00b kids. But they’re not very encouraging of anything but Hunters and Eq.
See, one of the things making me nervous about some of the places is I know not everyone who does h/j properly appreciates the benefit of properly done flatwork, and my little baby dressage queen soul just curls up and cries at that. And I don’t know really how to tell good h/j instruction from bad unless it is super obvious (whereas with dressage I at least have a vague clue of the concepts, so I can tell if someone is talking total rubbish) so I waffle, and then life stuff happens so I don’t have time to keep looking into local places, and then when I get back to it I have to start waffling all over again.

I will clean out my inbox here and PM you though.

Smurf soap! Something “blueish” perhaps? Like blueberry with something else… I dunno, you’re the expert Libby!

I can’t claim the credit but someone else when this thread was brought up suggested The League of Weenie Eventers and Reriders (not sure if she posts here)

Wow, your XC course is beautiful…and yes…several Weenie-Worthy Fences!! :0
yay!!!

I do offer weenie courses at my place

I keep wondering if we need something to wake us up or calm us down

I’ve heard that everything I take down there will be covered in red dirt! I looked at the virtual course walk and it looks much tamer than the BN CT I did last weekend. It looks like a beautiful course…I really want to go since I’ve never been to NM and I really want some good Mexican food.

Another weenie eventer wannabe. I may actually make it on the horse I now own. He isn’t trained to jump and I haven’t a clue but my trainer is very good at making sure I know I’m not overfaced. We have just started jumping and the day she had me confidently go over a single log to a double log to a triple log was the day I felt on top of the world. It doesn’t hurt that my lazy, doesn’t like to go forward horse loves to jump. (Who knew?) Anyway, he gets excited and after the first jump is ready to canter on to the next. This from the horse that really doesn’t like to canter. Who knows, maybe, one day we will actually go to an event and ride in the amoeba class.

Citrus lavender will do both.
