Leather Collar

I was wondering if anyone knew of somewhere to get a nice leather collar?
I’m looking for something of quality, along the same lines as raised/fancy stitched leather halter.

Most that I have found are such poor leather quality, hard, unfinished, look like they would crack and rub the hair.

Thanks

Freedman’s Harness in Canada and Kentucky ``have nice ones !

* Freedman’s Harness … Canada and Kentucky have nice dog collars.

Or

R.E. Fennells in Kentucky …made to order …with brass name plate.

Both places ‘sport’ high quality leather and $$$ ~

Google for websites … sorry I’m an idiot on a computer :o:eek::lol:

Our Labrador has been wearing a Quillin rolled leather collar for five years, and it is still in lovely shape.

It’s not on their website, but Quillin makes a LOVELY raised collar. It’s what my dogs wear once they’ve proven they are good, grown up dogs. Sort of a right of passage. And they make a beautiful keepsake.

The rolled collar is also very nice. My young dog wears one

I’ve really liked how my Hogan leather collar and lead have worn. I use it for everything- everyday, obedience, and herding.

If you’d like colored leather padding, Clever with Leather is Ah-maz-ing!

Check out Etsy. Tons of artisans offering leather dog collars there.

I got some beautiful stitched leather collars for my dogs with quality brass buckles and a lovely riveted brass nameplate at gundogsupply.com. It’s been a few years and they still look gorgeous. Except the part that a bad dog chewed on!

Beautiful collars out there - it is really a shame that the go-to big box stores stock such dreadful collars, cheap, hard, unstylish.

A lovely collar sets off a beautiful dog in the way a good pair of shoes does us!

Check out www.gundogsupply.com I’ve gotten several collars from here.

An acquaintance of mine started this side business, and so far is getting really great reviews.

Paco Collars is a local store that also does online orders. Love their collars!
Was just going to suggest Paco Collars - they are real works of art, not just leather.

Thanks everyone!

Gary Mundy. Hands down. Love his leather quality and the quality of workmanship.

Not sure where in Ontario you are, but Fincham’s in Nobleton makes dog collars and would be of excellent quality. You could also check with Brubacher’s in Wallenstein and I’m pretty sure Bahr’s in Hornby carries some dog products - yup, they do:

(Although great quality, Freedman’s would be very expensive! Yes, I was right - $129. for a raised leather collar! http://freedmanharness.com/collections/pet-accessories)

I have a Perry’s leather collar for my dog and matching bracelet for myself, and both are holding up well. My bracelet regularly gets wet, allowed to air dry, is thrown on the seat of my car for days on end, etc and still looks just fine. My dog collar is treated like a dog would treat a collar and again looks just fine. I have never given either any leather treatment and they are soft.

IIRC, the last Quillin raised collar I purchased was in the $80 range? Not cheap, but also not $129

Got a custom purple leather collar from The Engraver at Dressage at Devon. Very high quality leather and hardware. Purple color lasted a year but now looks brownish.

I really like Delfina Saddlery’s dog collars, and they have empty channel dog collars you can bead yourself. They are very high quality leather and softly padded.
