Let's see your cowboy boots !

I love cowboy boots. So, let’s see your cowboy boots. If you want to tell how you clean them that would be great, too.

I can only do a link. Ariat fatbaby Sheila’s, medium brown & pink. I don’t ride in these, soles too thick for that. (They would be prettier without the pull on holes, though, imo.). Let link load, then scroll down a bit.

Could only find pictures of one pair online

#7063 (And yes mens boots, my feet are too big to fit in womens boots)

I’ve got a pair of Boulet’s that they don’t make anymore as my everyday riding pair. So comfortable.

This is the pair I’ve asked for for Christmas - to be next year’s show boots.

This is the fancy pair of Corral boots that I got for Christmas last year - they don’t ever go to the barn.

Gorgeous boots, thanks guys ! Does Boulets list prices? Urban, those are works of art. They belong here

Boulet doesn’t have prices on their site, but Boot Barn, Sheplers and Cavendars all carry most of the line. They range from $180 - $250 per pair. I’ve learned the lesson, which is that quality boots are worth paying for. They’re more comfortable and last longer. I went through a lot of cheap Ariats and other brands before I figured that out. And, personally, I love riding in leather soles.

Agree with UrbanHennery, mine were 235 + tax. Not bad for a handmade boot (and supporting Canadian manufacturing at the same time). They used to make english boots as well and I have a pair of dress boots that I use to ride in at home (too short for me to show in). I bought them second hand and baby them, they are the most comfortable boots, but they are starting to show their age.

I’d like to get a pair of these Tin Hauls, but they don’t come in my size, and they are too nice to wear to the barn!

Those are beautiful, AQHA. Now, I thought large feet were a good thing, sometimes ;). I’m a women’s size 10, so no small feet over here either.

I apologize for my entry level knowledge and tastes in western boots. Some questions, if you would. What do we call the pull holes and are they generally favored or not? What brand do you suggest for the lightest weight and most cushiony foot bed?

Thanks so much.

My show boots are Lucchese, and my everyday riding/work boots are Anderson Bean. I have a very high instep and those brands actually fit and I can get them on without crying in pain. The AB boots are very comfortable for all day riding and work. My show boots aren’t, but they are gorgeous and I can wear them comfortably all day at a show since I’m not on my feet the whole time.

I don’t know what the pull holes are called, but I like them. I find that my leather soled boots are very light compared to my old thick rubber soled boots. However they can be very slippery until they break in, and I never wear them in the winter. I have ankle problems so I don’t wear mine all day, I usually ride, untack, and then change into my sneakers. My boulets are great, but I have a kind of crappy pair of Dan Post boots that are like slippers. They don’t look great (even when all cleaned up) but I can sit around in those puppies all day!

You really need to look at buying a pair like the english people do. You want them snug in the foot when you put them on but they will stretch and shape to your foot as you spend more time in them. Best thing I do is wear them to the office for a couple of days, ride in them and then wear them to the wash bay when you rinse your horse off. A couple of days of that and all of my boots have fit wonderfully.

I just got a new pair of Ariats to replace the old ones - http://www.sheplers.com/Ariat-Quickdraw-11-Western-Boots/4677.pro
Except off eBay so 80% less than that price.

I’ve tried all the “better” brands over the years and haven’t found that the higher price is justified in increased durability or comfort, but of course YMMV. I keep going back to Ariats and Justins, whichever is priced the best when I’m looking.

This has been my experience, too. I have a pair of Justin Gypsy boots, this style http://s.stpost.com/eccstorefront/product_images/5319g/f_5319g_1.1.jpg. They WILL. NOT. DIE. I don’t especially love riding in them, but it’s more of an ankle support thing than a sole issue. I muck stalls in them, bathe horses in them, walk through mud, etc. I’ve never oiled or treated them in any way and the leather still looks as good as the day I bought them. The suede has darkened a bit, but I don’t tuck my jeans into my boots, so I don’t really care what they look like. After five (yes, five) years of near daily wear, the only thing that is starting to wear out is the sole.

I’ve owned many pairs of “good” boots, and they all wore out much faster than my $70 Justins, with much lighter use (only worn to ride/show, no mucking, no washracks and certainly no mud :D). I do find the designs on the more expensive boots to be really cool, though.

I love my Justin Gypsys…they are the exact ones pictured above. I wear them to work not to ride. I ride in lace up ropers and full chaps. I also have a pair of Nacoma boots and Ariats. I will probably get some Boulets. My husband has 2 pair.

Do you think the Justin Gypsy’s are more comfortable than the Ariat Fatbabys? To me this would mean a more cushioned footbed & a lighter weight. Thanks. Subjective, I know, but input still appreciated.

I have these in orange, love them.

I find the Justins to be more comfortable and a better fit than any of the Ariat cowboy boots I’ve tried. I wish Ariat western boots fit like their English boots…

The way that cowboy boot brands and styles fit is pretty personal. As is how they’ll wear for you. I’ve found that what you really need is a shop with a broad range of brands and then you just start trying them on until you find what fits you and in what size.

For instance, I wear an 8.5 in street / dress shoes. My old Dan Post boots were all 8s. My Ariats were 8.5s. My Corrals are 8s. My current Boulets are 7.5 and are too big. The new Boulets will be a 7. I can’t wear Justin, Anderson Bean, or several other brands as they don’t fit my feet / arch / ankle correctly.

I ride in my Boulet’s 4-5 days per week. I wear them in the rain and mud, I wear them in the wash rack, I clean stalls in them before or after I ride. I don’t wear them all day every day, but that’s what my Bogs are for. And they’ve held up just fine for 2 years and fit like slippers.

I love cowboy boots, but now that city folk have discovered them the focus is on fashion, not function, and the damn things won’t fit in a stirrup.

I love paddock boots, or at least I used to. I can’t find any, no matter the price or brand, that will hold up to the amount of riding I do.

So I moved to these, essentially jockey type boots with heavier duty soles.http://www.ridertack.com/Clarino_Boots_p/ewtbm1cl.htm the pressure of galloping doesn’t bother these guys. The best thing about them? I can spray them off with the water hose!

I just bought these for myself for Christmas…

I love a good pair of boots. Here is a shot of me in my Olathe’s:

Great boots. For anyone who wants a strong, sturdy, handmade leather boot that still has some style, I recommend checking out Olathe.

I really like the horse you’re riding Amateurvaquero, I’m a sucker for a pretty to roan.
