Thoughts? Is there a specific purpose to why you are asking? This is not a stallion I would personally use for many reasons, most of which I feel are obvious so I won’t comment any further.

I believe that Dartagnon was the National CHampion Arab Sport Horse Grand Prix horse. But, he is now being ridden by an amature and she is moving him back down the PSG as I understand it having talked to the trainers who rode him at the Nationals.

There have been quite a few PB Arabians competing GP dressage and doing it very well. Taez+, OKW Entrigue+++//, and KB Omega Fahim+++// just to name the stallions in CA. There are several competing in the east as well. It is not as unusual as you think ;). I have always found it interesting that these stallions are not/were not used so much in the breeding shed due to the fact that they are sport horses and not of the current popular Arabian breeding. The Aulrab horses are proving to be exceptional for dressage. Awesome trainability with WB gaits. We will be seeing more of them travelling up the levels, as they are very ammy friendly and dressage is easy for them. Aulways Magic and Aul Turbo Charged are Aulrab grandson’s doing quite well. I have an up and coming Magic Aulrab colt out of my Hano approved mare and there are others.
I was hoping this thread would reveal bloodlines of both sides so that we could study which Arabian lines are working with the WB lines. And which Arabian lines lend themselves to creating better dressage horses. Or Jumping ones =)
Well it’s no secret that I bought goodpony’s super pony. I have wanted an arab wb cross forever, but could never find one for sale older than a yearling. Flora looks a bit like a pony size arab/wb cross. She is tough and smart and funny, and she has wonderful, balanced, horse sized gaits. I would not say she is easy, but she is incredibly trainable. Sometimes she learns things too fast 
she’s just cool.
I really think the Arabian blood brings something special to any cross.

Thank you so much for posting more info! Oh my, Kalypso/Diamont:), lucky you! Love the babies. My mare is out of a daughter of MHR Elimara. I love these lines for their athletic ability, mostly Polish/Crabbet. Truly my favorite combo when it comes to Arabians.
OK I have to ask… 8 months and 11-12hh, we have a 6 month old who’s 13.1h. I really don’t want one to be 17h. I was thinking he would be around 16.1 maybe 16.2 like his momma. YIKES!

Yep, she is a VERY nice mare…unfortunately only suitable for breeding as she has some very deep-seated fear issues under saddle from (we suspect) being started. Bolting, bucking, spinning, rearing…not fun on a 17.3 hh, 1300 pound animal bred to be athletic!
I’m a fan of Egyptian Arabs myself, like Crown Royal’s sire, but Wein is a very nice horse! We all expect both Kory and Royal to be incredible horses in a few years.
I should put a disclaimer on my height guesstimate on Royal! :lol: He could very well be at or above 13 hands at the moment. I’ll ask my trainer/his owner what she thinks tomorrow. It’s a consequence of my working with horses mostly above 16.2, and I’m hardly a breeding/foal growth expert. Both foals are expected to mature around 17hh, though - his dam was 17.3 with a propensity to throw big (she has an 18.2 foal out there) and his sire 15.2.

I would love to see your gelding :). If your are serious about getting an Old/Arabian cross, let me know. I can point you in the direction of some very good breeder’s who are doing this as their breeding program.
Are you interested in lets say a Trak/Arabian cross? I know where a very nice one is sitting in a pasture just waiting for someone to do something with him. Or what about a Hano/Arabian cross?

What a cute face! I photographed a Simpatico/Arabian cross here in Nor Cal many times and your boy reminds me of him - I know its just the color and those cute tippy ears, but I can’t resist cute ears. What are his bloodlines and do you have any body pics of him?
Size is only relative to the rider, I want a smaller horse and I know many that also like the 15h-16h range. I think these little guys are going to become more and more popular

I did have 2 full siblings, sold the older one when she had a jumping career ending injury and I didn’t need a trail only horse, as she hated dressage. She now babysits an rerider and packs her hubby in the mountains. The younger one is a lifer for me, she will never leave. Both are by the Oldenburg stallion First Class.

Playland has been doing Irish Draught/Arabian crosses for over 10 years. They are using their 2nd Irish Draught stallion and have been taking some crosses back to Arabians. Their mare base was a number of Crabbet based mares. They have successfully bred and sold young crosses largely to Pony Clubbers and eventers and people looking for smaller sturdy sport horses to be successful in dressage and eventing. Not many are shown in the Arab circuit but they do well in open competition.

I think the main advantage to the Irish Draught cross is bringing in a easier, solid working temperament. The cross has built the farm. They have made great school horses as well as successful market horses.
Just an observation on sales. I think the arabxwb cross has to be nicer than a straight wb to sell for the same money, if that makes sense. My friend had an arab/wb (bay with chrome) registered GOV, and she had a hard time selling her as many had preconcieved ideas about “spooky arabians.” I’m not saying I believe this is true of all arabians, so please don’t bite my head off, but this was the experience she had with a horse trained through second level. I think she should have gotten twice the money she did.
She was also difficult to saddle fit–very broad backed. That could just be her though.
I learned how to ride on (full) arabians and have a soft spot for them. They were more “alert” than everyone else’s QH however, and a couple were definitely reactive in type. Often I find the (sometimes older) ammie who is interested in a smaller horse also really wants a super quiet horse.
Again, I’m not saying every arabian is that way! You all have posted some beautiful crosses (I wish I could access FB at work Tamara! I want to see the Landkoenig cross). I just think any time you go outside the box you are facing a bit of an uphill battle. Still worth the endeavor though!
