If you look closely it appears a barely visible rider is being ejected off the near side. It looks like two human legs hanging down inside the left fore of the dark horse.
In some quarters, this and his not liking post parades has turned into “Lani is a raging monster who has to run on the far outside or he’ll try to savage other horses and is a danger to everyone around him!” The “evidence” for it was that photo, plus some pictures of him being lead with, at most, his ears pricked.
Aw, there’s nothing wrong with him. He doesn’t tolerate hijinks. Plenty of Grand Prix jumpers have similar quirks.
While it may be the rider that was on the bay, that person is not on/coming off the horse at the moment of the photo. The person that can bee seen behind the bay, is on the ground running/jogging well behind the horses.
Boy, that must be one big needle to inject a rider into a horse…sorry, couldn’t resist.
