Live XC - Who is watching?

Anybody else up and glued to the computer this morning? Can’t wait for things to get started!

Can’t seem to get the individual event working on UniversalSports without purchasing the entire week. Anyone else?

I bought the whole week. It seemed like a great deal, and now I can go back and watch some of the dressage stuff I’ve missed!

I started the x-c a bit late, I think I’m about an hour behind ‘live’ but I’m loving it! So far it’s streaming really well

I am watching with my heart in my throat. Yea! for Boyd and the USA!!!

Double Clear over that MON STER course.

Took all the straight routes, barely a bobble and made it look “easy”.

Amazing ride and rider and horse.

Just tuned in and saw Dirk Schrade’s horse fall. They both got up and walked away, hope they are ok, his horse really wrapped his neck around. The FEI commentator said that several teams are already relying on only 3 scores because of the CC results for their first riders. Were there any other horse/rider falls?

Anyone know why it’s not live on the USEF site? I think I’m stuck buying the pkg on Universal Sports…

I am really bad on names, but a woman from Eurpose’s horse jumped into the water over the log – He must have jumped 4’6" high over the log. Ended up on his knees in the water with his head underwater. Amazing that horse and rider regrouped and went on to jump put and gallop off. Quite a “highlight” moment that I am sure will be picked up by other feeds.

I am getting very confused by the announcer’s individual and team placings figures… Where is the site with updated scorings?

That was Jessica Phoenix and Exponential of Canada that almost took a dive into the water.

Sweden had a rider eliminated for refusals, and Japan also had a rider with big penalties.

Individual livescoring is up here, though slooooooow: http://www.alltechfeigames.com/competition/results/ResultsDetail.aspx?calendarId=6&date=1002&round=Cross+Country&competition=Eventing&competitionNumber=2&id=228

Oh no, heartbreak for Simone, I just yelled out “Oh no!”, so close, how awful for her. Her lovely beasty was just squeaking out some of those last fences, but I thought they would make it through.

ETA: Thanks Kerlin!

The german girl who was leading after dressage just fell at the LAST fence and is eliminated. Poor lady.

The horse stopped so late that he 1/2 climed onto the [wide] fence, she came off, then he rolled back and fell sideways – but got up and seems to be OK.

Sorry, it was a Belgian rider with huge penalties. Ireland racked some up too. So far USA, Canada, GB, Australia, New Zealand all have riders home with minimal or no penalties.

Another Swedish rider came in with 71.80 penalties…so much for that team dressage score!

I want Cool Mountain to come be my horse! Love his sweet game face, reminds me of Mazetto. The bay color helps, too.

Also have to say, Mark Todd made that course look easy.

Arctic Fox Too looks a little unsure about this whole thing.

Wow, First Lady is gorgeous. Arctic Fox seems to have settled by the halfway or so.

Does anyone have a link to the dressage results–using the US scoring system?

Whoa, Buck is having a sticky ride so far. That wishing well was ugly. I hope they get settled, that was a little scary.

Looking much better now at fence 12 a/b.

I agree – Buck and his horse looked like they were not on the same page at all. I (of course!) do not know why, but Buck seemed to be trying to get the horse to wait and add one more stride and the horse seemed to want to go forward and jump off a forward stride.

IMVHO, that is what caused the stop. Buck was still taking back to organize and suddenly the jump was in front of them. The horse got confused about “go” v. “no go”, so he stopped.

Fortunately, after that the two of them seemed to become more of a team.

William Fox-Pitt was such a pleasure to watch! He (this is a big compliment :D) rode the course like a hunter rider. He saw his spots from so far back that he could make small adjustments to let Cool Mountain meet every jump perfectly out of stride, with no wasted motion. He made it look, literally, like a ride in the park.

He is a very tall man but he ride in such good balance and in such sync with Cool Mountain, that he is one with him. I can see why they win so much. They are poetry in motion.

CF: Buck and Ballynoe (sp?) Castle. Buck is a large man, but he rides much “harder” in the saddle and in the first part of the course, seemed to be using his weight to counter balance his horse instead of staying out of his way. [Of course, the horse may not have been ridable at the beginning – which is too bad, especially at this level.]

These are the observations of a HP who evented long ago, but who jump judges and watches it a fair amount. So I cannot be held responsible for any stupid comments.

Wow, the Canadians are owning this course so far.

Stefano and his horse look pretty great right off the bat on course. Their dressage test was lovely, I am excited to see them go.

Am a bit peeved that they’re not showing much of Port Authority’s round.

Anyone know if there is a course diagram online anywhere?

Seems to be something wrong with the scores. Niklas Jonsson for Sweden had no fault only timepenalties…and still it shows 71 something…

Unfortunately Niklas Lindback got stressed in the end and steared too narrow on the double instead of keeping cool, getting a few penalties and a clear round…aaargh…

Must ask you though…how´s Becky Holden and Courageous Comet when it comes to showjumping…why was she not on the team… very positive horse in XC :)…

Anyone see what happened to Tim Lips? I saw his 6th fence and then headed over to the finish line to watch his last few fences and then I heard he fell. :frowning:

I´m not sure but think it was him who fell on the last double, horse got stuck on the last fence and went down on knees and he fell off…
