Liz Halliday

I think a person can fairly be concerned, worried, hoping for an update and express that and not be accused of not respecting privacy and the families need for space.

I am thankful that the family provided an update and it was shared here. Continued jingles.

Also important to remember is that her family have basically had to move to another state while Liz undergoes treatment, putting their normal lives on hold. The paperwork associated with her care—plus insurance and how to pay for it all—has to be overwhelming. Then they’ve got to wind down her business, which includes horses to care for and employees who need paid and large animals and equipment to ship long distances. I mean, I can’t imagine. Social media updates are just not on the top of the list of things to do for them right now.

I am wondering which horses are going to which riders. I know in the update Boyd just got some. I love watching her ride and she has some super horses. I wish her all the best in her recovery. I hope to see her riding again soon.

I’ve been thinking about the logistics of it all and how daunting it must be. Her beautiful new farm, her animals, her staff etc. Paying for it, maintaining it… it’s really scary to think how it all can change so quick.

I’m thankful Liz has such an amazing support system.

Plus, the energy to make these decisions. And likely in the context of not knowing for sure just what her condition will look like in a few weeks, a few months … who knows how long.

They are having to unwind her entire life. Everything that goes to who she is. Because the animals have to have decisions and action now. They can’t wait.

I can imagine those closest to Liz being mentally and emotionally exhausted at the end of every day.

First, I’m so sorry to hear what you went through and glad you are here today!

But as you know, there are a lot of reasons updates often drop off. These things hit a point where progress is slow. Her family has to adjust to their new normal at some point and balance how to keep living with all the change. I’m sure they become fatigued of writing what feels like the same thing over, and over, and over. “Recovery is slow but she is making progress” or some variation. Plus recovery is never linear and a lot of people get to the point where they don’t want to talk about all the daily ups and downs.

Exactly…I think they started with the best intentions giving daily updates and asking for messages to give to Liz. When it was clear the progress would be much slower of course they backed off the communication.
Sending more healing vibes for Liz.

Bumping this back up to keep the positive thoughts flowing and to see if there has been any news in the eventing community. It looks like the last update on her website was the October 16 one and I keep hoping there will be some positive news, even if it is slow going.

Thanks to Nancy Jaffer for gathering this update and sharing it with the community that cares so much for Liz.

Between the lines, as it were, I read that this is to be a long road for Liz. But she’s here, and she keeps going – as she has always done. Carry on, Liz! You have an army of well-wishers behind you!

Boyd has video updates of a few of her horses, including Nutcracker and Miks Master C.

I think the Nancy Jaffer piece is reporting on this update that was posted on Liz’s social media. My between the lines takeaway is the same as yours, a long road ahead, but even slow progress is progress. Hate this for her so much, but we know she will be a very determined patient and has so many people cheering her on and wishing her well!

So glad she is continuing to fight and make progress. I had a pretty bad fall a few weeks ago and thankfully my concussion is very minor comparatively speaking but it’s amazing how much I took for granted previously. I’m so glad that she is in good hands and continuing her healing journey!

I really appreciated the incredibly gracious responses from Boyd, Lynn, Will. Heaven knows Boyd has suffered through his own injuries and his wife’s, so I am sure he feels for her.

and a lucky break for Lynn. (can I say that?) She gets a nice promising horse to bring up.
