Interesting saddle.

Is Bobby Meyerhoff riding dressage in a jump saddle?!

And Erin Kellerhouse looked like she had way too much saddle in front of her and was sitting very low.

It almost looks like an exercise saddle, having no blocks - he rode in it yesterday, too. I can’t quite figure it out!

Yea it’s a racing saddle, he always does dressage in it!

I was wondering what he’s riding in too! Anyone know?

Meyerhoff’s legs look so short in that saddle! This coming from a person with a 27" inseam.

Who is the guest commentator today?

Frankie TS again

How interesting! It’s refreshing to see someone riding without the massive blocks. I noticed in the Ingrid video posted earlier that her saddle had very small, if any, blocks. Makes the sitting trot even more impressive!

He was clearly off behind, I think that’s why they got rung out.

i went back and found his round on the video around the 1 hour mark - i wonder if he tweaked something when he spooked at C after coming down the centre line. i cannot imagine that a rider or coach would send a horse into the ring, who was so clearly unsound.

I’ve had a horse that, after a small rear, which weighted a hind foot unevenly, immediately come up lame – an apparently hind foot abscess was brewing, and the pressure on it made it hurt intensely right away. It took $1200 of diagnostics and 6 weeks to figure out that it was “just” an abscess because it was so severe, and came on so quickly.

So sorry for them and hope Watson is better quickly!

The first time I noticed it was Valegro after one of his big rounds, it looked kinda cute, like he was shaking it all off and going from big fancy dressage boi to happy pony.

Yes and if you watch Catherine Haddad videos, she is a huge proponent of no rolls or blocks at all due to the effect on your seat.

Pavarotti must have super sound bloodlines my goodness! He’s 19 and done so much. Very cool.

She is my HERO. I’ve never liked dressage and after I read her blogs and watched her videos, I want to buy a dressage saddle and start doing pure dressage. :joy:

I just discovered her and she’s my new self appointed YouTube coach :joy:

Really? I just googled some of his prior tests and he’s riding in a dressage saddle.

I’ll have to check it out! I’ve heard of blocks impeding your seat but I don’t really know much about it. Confession time, I’ve never actually watched Kentucky dressage before, but I am learning so much!!

Yeah from what I understand it’s normal for him so not sure which tests it would be.

Does anyone know if the 5* test is a new test this year?
