ML is a brilliant dressage rider. It is not just RF Scandalous - who is a remarkable horse, too. I don’t want to say I’ve forgotten some of the baggage that rides heavily on ML’s coat-tails, but fingers crossed she is on the start of a new leaf because she is seriously a world class rider. I’m hoping for a great, safe, clean run for them on Saturday.

I didn’t think that was RF Scandalous’ best test. I thought she had some funky steps with that RH in several of the changes and transitions. She is one to beat. Let’s see if Ollie is up to the task.

did anyone else notice no spurs for Tim P on Bango?

I don’t intend to dig up dead bodies here, but would you mind explaining the baggage? I’ve been out of the loop for a while.

ML has been throwing down dressage tests in the low twenties (and lower) for some time with Kitty. They are definitely in another league dressage-wise, compared with most of their American competition. This was actually one of the most relaxed and effortless tests I’ve seen her ride. But she’s been at the top of the leaderboard before and not gotten around cross-country.

Not saying this to start a pile-on, btw, but with a sloppy course ahead, I’m sure that fact is on everyone’s mind.

Between the cold, windy weather today and rain forecast for Saturday, the weather is going to be a big factor throughout this event.

She really is a brilliant dressage rider, and rides that horse so well. I do hope she is getting better about her horsemanship, she has the talent but it can be hard to get behind someone so…controversial.

Happy to hear Lynn commentating. She is absolutely amazing! I’m hoping she has a great weekend with Coolio.

What brand/type of breast collar is Megan using?

ML has been the subject of scrutiny both on this board and in eventing circles for several controversial rides, including a crash XC at 2017 Rolex where she was lucky Demeter did not kill her. At several events, her horses had bloody mouths on cross country.

Her reception to the sport may have been kinder if she acknowledged her mistakes. Instead, she tried to cover up with black rags and finger-blaming – including castigating the eventing community for disliking her because she was a showjumper that was showing them up in their own sport.

She is a brilliant dressage rider, whatever her past says. The real gauntlet here for ML is whether she can stay within the time on XC, and come away clean (both in the mouth, and on record).

The leaderboard finally updated with the 21.7. I’ve noticed that happen a couple times throughout the day. Maybe the collectives don’t automatically get included?

That could be it. There are definitely more numbers in the breakdown than there were when I first looked

I hope OT lays down a world class test tomorrow. Not just because I have both his horses on my team but it makes me ill to think of ML as a five star winner. Although I have my serious doubts about her ability to get around course on Saturday.

His first ride is today (4:53pm, the last ride of the day) so you don’t miss it! I’ve got Master Class on my team too.

Emilee Libby looked like she rode her test with four fingers over the reins, rather than having the traditional pinky below setup. Anyone have any insights on what strategic reason might be behind that?

Driving rein?

No, just with the rein one finger lower than usual, so she was holding it with her whole fist.

Here we go…can OT lay it down?

He’s on track to lay it down, but not sure if he’ll pass ML.

24.1 for second place!
