I agree it was a tough group of riders/horses. My point is that the Europeans seem to be outdoing us. E.g. Martin Fuchs in the big Grand Prix ($300000+) earlier in the week, Jordan Coyle in the Hermes final. Luckily, Kent Farrington and McLain Ward are still in the FEI top ten. Hope is alive.
USA was silver in SJ in the last Olympics, in an absolutely thrilling finish against Sweden, who took gold by a difference of about .4 seconds. Not sure what you are on about.
I think the US is doing an excellent job right now, and/but we are also in a bit of a building phase. We have Kent, Laura, and McLain who are still at the top of their game and very well-mounted, and we are also bringing along a lot of younger riders who need seasoning and good horses. If the perception that the US is not as dominant as they’ve been in years past is informed in part by the challenge of qualifying for Paris, we took a lot of opportunities to use qualifying events and Nations Cups and that sort of thing to give riders development opportunities. I think that’s our pathway for the future and a worthwhile investment to keep making.
I’m sorry I missed watching the class live. Those brush orcas are bonkers. I spooked at Shamu just from the pictures.
Did you see the flamingos??
Yes, but I was too busy spooking at the orcas to really notice them.
Scroll down to the photo of McLain and one of the flamingos.
The flamingos were much worse than the orcas The flamingos with the liverpool, by the in gate, in Thursday night’s 5* class created chaos and carnage!!!
