Jim and Faye Little were my teachers in my last year of riding in Chevy Chase, Md. in 1968. I would love to know where they are and thank them, if anyone knows. They left Chevy Chase sometime after '68 for Middleburg and then I lost track. They owned Pegasus Stables from about '67 to the mid 70’s or later. Anyone know anything? Thanks.
They may have gone to Fl but am not sure. You might try contacting someone at Meadowbrook Stables. Claude’s bench is firmly planted in the ground at Meadowbrook.

I worked at Pegasus/Meadowbrook in that same time frame and would also love to know anything about the current whereabouts of Jim & Faye.

I’ve been rather awestruck over the years by the strong sense of family that seemed to pervade that barn.
My dad is the blacksmith for Mrs. Little. Mr Little died a few years back. If you click on my name, there will be a way to send a message and my dad could give Mrs. Little your information. He says she still ponies the racehorses she trains and still jumps!
So, you rode there while Fen Kollock still owned Pegasus? I did too - just for a year or two. Ginger Koehler was my name then. My favorite horses were Andy and Sun Daddy. What about you? Did you know David Bradley, too?
Pegasus Meadowbrook 60s 70s
Just found this string searching for Jim and Faye. They were certainly essential to my well-being once upon a time. Along with Claude. My brother, sister and I were working students at the end of the 60s, early 70s, and we kept a horse there for a while as well.
My favorite school horse was the lovely chestnut Leaflet. Anyone remember her? She wore a veil all summer for sensitive nose syndrome…
I hadn’t been back in 35+ years until today when I went with husband and mother to revisit old times. According to the charming young woman having her lunch, Jim Little (son) had JUST been there looking around. Can’t believe we missed him.
My google search was very unproductive re Faye. Glad to see that someone posted her doing well and continuing to ride.
It would be wonderful to read more about Meadowbrook (guess they dropped the Pegasus a long time ago). Particularly from people who are riding now.
I absolutely remember Leaflet!!! I wouldn’t have actually recognized the name but once you mentioned the sensitive nose syndrom, I certainly can picture her in my mind wearing that veil! Pegasus went out of business some time ago. I was saddened when I went back to the area in the early 90’s to see it was overgrown and just being used for storage.

David Bradley now owns The Atlantic Publishing Company - I’ve corresponded with him on occasion.
More School Horses - By Gosh, Down Pat, Farnley ICU, So-So, Trademark, Jupiter, Farnley Netta, I think instead of Carmen you might mean Carmina. Young horses we worked with as instructors: Glory Bee, The Elite, Rushcutter (then Kit Baker bought him), Year of Grace.

Was Blackjack a boarder or a school horse?
Ha! The Farnley ponies, So-So, Trademark - yes indeed Don’t personally remember Glory Bee (was she by any chance a white App?), Year of Grace, or The Elite. Wasn’t Rushcutter the big chestnut TB that Faye rode sometimes at the shows? I think Blackjack was a school horse. And Carmen was a very, very old toddle-along bright/red chestnut school horse - back in the mid 60’s she was probably in her late 20’s. She was the ultimate “beginner” horse, very happy to be ridden along in a halter and a rope! She was one of the horses that loved to swim in the deep hole in Rock Creek behind Meadowbrook barn (down from Cinder Track).
And a correction to the stable workers’ names - it was “John” (not James) who wore glasses… really nice man and good groom!

Blackjack belonged to Pegasus and was retired in the care of Myfida Bell. He was easily the best pony I ever rode. I got to show him for 2 or 3 years in the sixties.
I have a list of all the Pegasus horses I got to ride which I found in one of my childhood horse books. When I can bring it to light again I’ll post the names. I left in 1968 to go to college so some of the names and ownerships are different.
I got to start Acrobat- was the first to ride him. Jamie showed him in pony jumpers.
The grooms at Pegasus were Lester and Charlie.
David Bradley is now owner of Meadowbrook Stables - well Maryland Parks and Planning owns the property but he runs the stables - he’s pretty silent on it but did massive renovations to the place several years ago. WBTA still has their horse shows there

Jim passed away some years ago. Faye is at present in Clinton, N.C., helping care for her brother. Her e-mail address is - faye7982@aol.com. I just had supper with Dee Chalaron who taught at P-M Stables at the same time I was there teaching. We were discussing the Peg. and Mead. Stables and what was going on in 2013. Therefore, I was looking up the stables and found the question of the Littles location. James (young) lives in Alaska and works for some air cargo company. Brooke (younger daughter) is working with an unusual breed of horse. Think she is in Fla. Faye can enlighten you. I am hunting for one instructor that was at P-M Stables at this time and then went to teach at Goucher College (sp?) in the 70’s. Janet McBrian??? She had a huge chestnut horse that she did some vaulting on. Thanks.
