I’m so sorry, lost my heart mare after having her 27 yrs. Big hugs to you, your buddy and my Katerbug are playing in the fields over the rainbow bridge looking after us!!!
Lol, a tree stump and baling twine as reins were always one of my favorite memories!
Well, more sad news at our barn. A 30 year old gelding, my guy’s neighbor, is likely going to be euthanized for neurologic symptoms. He was a Grand Prix dressage horse and truly classy, even at his age.
Meanwhile, I am remembering the fun? of handling a spicy young mare. Sometimes I feel like I am flying a kite, not leading a horse. But she is curious, happy to explore, and respects my space. We are going to start riding next week (at least the trainer) and keep going on our groundwork.
Enjoy building the new relationship with your new girl! I hope the first ride on her is fun and uneventful!
