That is NUTS! So much drama around one piece of property? I guess then it’s better it’s not happening. Maybe the land is cursed. Time to move along. Winter is coming and the markets in your area slow down. You might find an awesome deal somewhere else!
Don’t worry, as my friend the real estate fellow tells me, “there is always another one down the road”.
Keep looking, something else will show up that fits what you need just right.
Well, crap. I’ve been hoping you’d be moving in this month. That place needs a nice owner. Too stinking bad about the stalking on Facebook. Who are those people? Sheesh.

I do hope they find some good people to buy it. It really has a lot of potential.
It sounds like you dodged a bullet with losing out on this property. I can’t imagine actually moving in, and having online stalking, and actual harassment happening constantly. Hope the stalking, and harassment stops now.
Every time I’ve lost out on a property, or decided against one, I’ve found something better. Where I live now, if I had chosen any of the three others I looked at, I’d be looking at walking away from them instead of selling. Where I am is much better than that, so it’s usually for the best.
The right place will come along at the right time, I’m positive of that.
That’s a hard one, but it maybe a blessing. I personally thought we found our home years back & lost it for different reasons, was so disappointed. After and a few months later, we found the home-property… Your home is out there waiting 4 you to find it… hang in there ??

Agreed. I started to feel like I was in a movie. Things like that aren’t supposed to happen in real life.[/QUOTE]
so now I wonder just where the bodies are buried
I agree with JanM, every time I’ve lost out on a property it has turned out for the good. Every. Single. Time. There is something better out there for you.
Weird, but probably for the best. I’ve heard some interesting things about the sellers, so I’m not all that surprised.
Kodidog763 - Check PM.
For the best. Who would want to own a property with that kind of weirdness starting up before it’s even purchased, think what it could have escalated to if you had bought it.
I’d say you were lucky it fell thru. There are better properties out there with better sellers and neighbors.

And you really don’t want the property if the neighbors are showing themselves to be weird.
Maybe you guys would prove to be awesome neighbors-- and improvement over the sellers. But it seems they have all set it up so that no one will find out. If I were the seller I’d be worried about the cause of my sale falling through.
In any case, OP, at least you didn’t buy into someone else’s problem. And as others have said with properties: The harder I have tried to make one that was NQR fit, the larger the problem it took to finally have me bail on the deal. It’s like God said No… and had to keep turning up the volume until I was willing to hear Him.
Also just wondering if the sellers are going to go after these wonderful neighbors since they would qualify as a nuisance. Through their actions they have diminished the value of the seller’s land and caused a legitimate offer to retracted

We actually spoke with a few of the neighbors after receiving the letter. I suspect the letter didn’t actually come from the actual neighbors, but came from the other people that were in line to buy the property. We can connect the Facebook messages to the other buyers, and have tentatively connected our mystery visitor with the other buyers. All of the information we received has been shared with the sellers, which in turn was shared with their attorney. I know there have a been a lot of rumours, etc started about the sellers, the farm, and the whole mess. I don’t know if the sellers would pursue any action against the culprits.
Technically we didn’t step away due to the harassment (although it certainly made us more cautious). There was a legal document required as a contingency of the sale. We couldn’t find common ground on that document, so it was a mutual decision from both sides to cancel the transaction.

Ah, I see. You guys on the buying side sound quite sane.
It’s weird that people get screwy with transactions for big thing$ like real e$tate. Yeah, I knew everyone was a snotty doofus in 7th grade. But I thought that by the time you were doing adult transactions for adult money everyone had smoothed out and become rational. It always surprised me when people get stupid(er) as the amount of money involve gets high(er). Doesn’t that violate some law of thermodynamics somewhere?
Isn’t that more like Newton’s Third Law of Motion?

I actually think that people get loonier the more they spend or have to spend. You could call it a miser’s law, the more you have the more it hurts some people to spend the money to fix a leaky pipe, and for the want of a pipe the floor rots out. So they pick over small sums, or the principle of something.
OMG. Just on the grounds that too much weird behavior is associated with it, I agree with those who say that it is time to be glad you had the chance to move on from this property.
I hope the fact you were sharing on COTH, where many a strange tale has been told, didn’t jinx this property, that you were going to have maximum drama for minimum outcome. < creepy music here >
Do the sellers know about the weirdness that may be associated with the other buyer, who is clearly trying to drive down the price? Although in your shoes I would be hesitant to inform them or get involved - not much you can really do for them, other than cause a lot of trouble for yourself.
OK when you & your hubby find that beautiful dream property, you have to post photos here on COTH! In a new thread - I would not risk having weirdness from this property leak through COTH onto a different property … if it works like that.
Oh and - time to just stop thinking about the property you have now left behind, so creepiness doesn’t leak into your reality. Also because if the weird people do end up with it, it may start to look too good for them, and you don’t want that haunting you.
Also I believe it is your destiny to have a large indoor arena.
