Lovestruck aka Violet Joy

She has a beautiful head and neck, definitely going to wow in hand. I’m not breeding until next year I am very excited to follow this fillies progress.

Your filly is stunning and a carbon copy of her beautiful sire! Can you tell me about your experience with imported frozen? I was looking into Lordanos and there is no live foal guarantee, what were your thoughts?

I didn’t really know what I was doing so I only bought one dose. They later told me they like to use two doses per cycle and usually suggest that you buy 3 cycles worth. Thankfully that one dose did the trick so obviously I am very happy with it. I don’t think there is any frozen semen that comes with a LFG which is why it is so much less expensive generally that fresh with a guarantee or at least the option to ship you more if needed. I think his frozen is well known for being very good from what I have seen. Make sure you have a good vet though, you want to stack the deck in your favor as much as possible.

The barn where I keep my boys doesn’t have any foals due this year. So Violet is how I’m getting my 2020 foal fix. I don’t know nothing about no hunters, but she sure is cute! And so smart too - look at her leading along like a pro at the trot!

Are you going to miss Coco? Will she go back to the recipient mare farm when Violet is weaned? Just want to make sure she has a soft landing after all her good work!

Of course we will miss Coco, she has given us a wonderful gift! She will go back to SBS when Violet is weaned.

@Laurierace, how much extra did using a recip mare cost? Your foal is so lovely! Tempted to breed my Dutch mare but I don’t want her to go off the training track. If the place permits it, I could keep the mare here. I would send to my vet for foaling.

The lease was $3500 but we also had to pay to sync her up and for the transfer so probably around 5k. She was on Regumate and progesterone injections as well. Then the board for a year and a half. I got lucky as everything went perfectly each and every step of the way so it was as inexpensive as possible but still a lot more than just breeding the mare to carry.

I just found out that Hilltop is closing their inspections to the public this year so am scrambling to find another option for Violet. I was planning on ISR/Old since that is who her dam is inspected with. Really don’t want to have to pay for another inspection for Juliet.

Any word?

About inspection or something else?

The inspection, how she’s coming along and of course, baby pictures!

Oh! She is gigantic. Doing well with her training except for last week when she decided she was done and bolted, kicked me in the boob and sent me flying! I think we are going to an inspection in PA.

What a pistol!! The sassy babies wind up being the best performance horses…

She is STUNNING!! Wow, growing up so solid and correct. She will knock it out of the park at her inspection (premium foal for sure! :D)
