Lovestruck aka Violet Joy

Taking it pretty much moment by moment but right now things are great. We flew my oldest daughter down for the weekend to see my dad just in case and spent a much needed day at Disney yesterday and am sitting at the beach with my granddog as we speak.
My dad isn’t really eating and is dropping weight at an alarming rate but otherwise is feeling better than expected at the moment. Except for yesterday when some heartless POS on the Kim thread made me cry yet again, it’s been a good weekend.
On the Juliet front she and my daughter are in Aiken SC right now where they made their Novice debut and won! First time I ever missed a show in my daughter’s entire life. Apparently Juliet has been having a very obvious heat cycle while she is there which is good since she usually doesn’t show heat. Now we have an idea when to send her to be scanned in a few weeks. Thanks for asking. There have been so many astonishingly cruel things said to me on COTH lately that the kind words are even more appreciated.

I missed this thread earlier in the year.
Not sure if you’re still considering Cabardino but he does have a reputation of throwing babies who can have a naughty streak. My gelding is a perfect example. 9/10 rides he’s lazy but a beautiful hunter, a hack winner, and scopey jump. Loves attention, quiet on the ground, etc. But that 10th ride, damn he has wicked buck that can come out of nowhere. He lives out 24/7 to keep him a bit more mellow. The three other Cabardino’s in our barn are identical. All out of very different, but very quiet mares.
I have a coming 2yo who’s damsire is Cabardino. She has the movement, hoping that she’ll be a bit more ammy friendly as she’s co-owned by my mom…

Pretty sure Lordanos is the winner but thanks for the info.

So sorry about your dad. Sometimes taking things moment by moment is the best attitude - enjoy the good moments and hopefully there are more good moments than down moments. Sending many jingles his way.

I had a post appear on my FB news feed today of Entourage showing with Peter Pletcher, I had to go look him up on USEF I was so taken by him. He’s apparently another Lordanos, very nice. I can’t wait to follow along with Juilet’s baby. Good luck!

Oh, I hope there are photos for you to see of your daughter and Juliet! What fun to have a win first time out at novice. Super that Juliet is now showing her heat. It makes you wonder if she psychic…

I’m glad you are able to get everyone down to have a visit with your dad. Hang in there. I’m glad he’s feeling OK.

I won’t be going back to Kim’s thread which is unfortunate because I would have liked to read it every once in a while. It’s become bizarre and ugly and nothing I want to see. I’d say “don’t let it get you down” but I’d be a hypocrite, because it sure has me down.

I’ve only been to the West coast Disneyland and that was eons ago. Is the Epcot (sp?) center as interesting as it seems? Enjoy that beach and keep on keepin’ on. I’ll be looking here for updates.

Love to you and yours, from Colorado.

Well funny you mention Epcot. I got my first ever park hopper pass yesterday and we hit all four parks. Always before we had to just choose one so usually went with Magic Kingdom. I think I may have enjoyed Epcot the most of all which means I am officially old since the last time I went there like 15 yesrs ago I thought it was only for old people.

As far as the Kim thread goes, I wish the mods would delete any mention of me or my dad so it could go back to what it was before. I know it’s not my fault that it took such a horrible turn but it has turned horrible nonetheless. In true COTH style it has managed to take an unbelievably hard situation and make it so much worse. Wasn’t aware that was even possible but there you go.

Laurierace, I am among the many that are more than disappointed at the turn the Kim threads have taken in the other forum

So glad to hear you enjoyed your Park Hopper pass with the family. Brings a smile to my face as it sounds like it did yours.

Tickled to read that your daughter and Juliet did so well. Must be a feeling of satisfaction to see your homebred girls do so well!!

Know there are many that are supporting you and your family and sending you positive thoughts and as much energy as you can need and use!!

I would completely understand if you chose not to visit Kim’s threads. I can’t being to imagine how difficult to read the hurtfulness.

skydy, I do hope you’ll go back and keep posting positively and ignoring the poison. Otherwise, iMO, those negative posters “win” and I won’t have that.

I’m guess I’m old, and have been so since I was young  because I’ve always found the Epcot center to be very interesting, from what I’ve read anyway.

As for the other thread I feel there is no point in engaging now that Kim is gone and the thread has deteriorated.
Laurierace, it is certainly not your fault. I think all of us (but one or so) were happy that you spoke about your Dad. Kim would have been as well. Try to forget about the unkind words.

We want pictures of your Juliet and daughter!
ETA And there they are!

They look wonderful!

Thank you for your kind encouragement.
I find comfort in “speaking” with people on these forums and am happy to participate.

However, I did try on that forum to say, to a young “lurker” who wrote an obituary after the fact, something that I know is a very important lesson in life. When confronted with people whom are dying, please don’t be silent.

You may not have the “right” words, who does? It doesn’t matter. Saying “I’m listening and I hear and I care” is what matters.

I was trying to convey a very important message about speaking up before it is too late.

I have seen the desolation, the heartbreak and the regret that people feel when they have failed respond to their dying friends, acquaintances, parents, or loved ones, because they “didn’t know what to say”. It is a tragic circumstance that I’ve seen so many times over the years in what was my work, and I would like to spare any person from feeling such regret.

I have many worries of my own and It was a difficult thought for me to express, but I believed it important to say. To be accused of “finger wagging” leaves me cold and unwilling to engage any further.

I’m happy to be here and keep up with you and your Dad, Laurierace.

I’d also like to hear what you particularly enjoyed about the Epcot center, if and when you have the inclination, as well as to keep up with your Juliet.

I went to Epcot when I was younger and enjoyed it!..but I’ve always been an “old person” at heart

I saw a filly by Lordanos the other day, they were free jumping her, and she’s not started under saddle yet. However, she had a very nice jump, and nice movement without being extravagant or too springy. I liked her type. She wasn’t very tall, but I cannot recall the exact height. She was pretty calm during free jumping and didn’t seem to get really revved up.

I wish you luck in your breeding venture with Juliet! She looks and sounds like a very nice horse.

This link is for Juliet’s Instagram that my daughter runs. There are hundreds of posts with photos so is kind of fun to follow along. She also has a bi weekly podcast that is linked in the bio that is taking off like crazy. They have companies throwing sponsorships at them but since they are amatuers they have to give it away. They just had a giveaway worth over 2k a couple weeks ago.

Thanks for sharing the link! I think many of us here almost feel like Juliette’s baby is going to be our own! LOL! I am so sorry that people are being trolls. It is so hurtful when people use the cloak of relative anonymity to be cruel and harsh. I am honestly afraid for our society when we are able to see the venom that lurks beneath smiling faces. Know that there are a LOT of people pulling for you and wishing you only the best.

Lovely photos of Juliet. Have you made a final decision for her breeding?

Lordanos is 99% the winner but haven’t signed any contracts yet.

I’m curious about results of her tests. I didn’t know that you could find out if a mare has the chestnut gene, etc. Anything yet on that front?

We never sent it in. I paid for the tests but I have been away since February 2nd so haven’t gotten a chance to pull mane.

I think I remember you saying that now that you said it again! LOL!

Oh, he has photos of some lovely jumping form on the page I found. I can’t find a good conformation shot though.

I was listening to my daughter’s latest podcast yesterday and one of the listeners submitted questions was which horse would you love to ride. The other people all named famous horses like Catch Me but my daughter said the horse we have seen down here several times named Remarkable that Scott Stewart won the Pre Greens with a few years ago because she thought it would be fun to ride another horse named Remarkable as that is Juliet’s name. Little does she know that he is by Lordanos as well. I think that cements the decision for me. I can live with a chestnut if that is what we get.
