Lusitano Collection auction prices???

I would highly recommend Casa Lusitana in MA. THey have a website and they import horses from Brazil. Any horse they represent is well-started or well-handled (youngsters). Sometimes you may also travel to Brazil with them when they plan a buying trip. Any horse they import has passed stringent temperament and health reviews…otherwise they run the risk of keeping a ‘clunker’, and they don’t have any. Cheap prices? NO. Fair prices and ability for you to see/try several horses in the USA? YES.

Sh![](away, my horse is also from HM imported from Brazil and then the same story as Lusoluv…someone who owned him felt he was a bit too much horse for her as she was more of a beginner and I bought him believe it or not, from a video and he is a wonderful and talented horse. I got very lucky to find one with three fabulous and pure gaits. He can not only collect easily but has a trot extension that will rival many WB’s. I had a fabulous DWB that I found too heavy in the hands and unfortunately was very talented but not the work ethic to go with it. After ridng a few Luso’s I knew that is what I wanted and I got very lucky finding one here. We have been together for two years now.
As far as the Lusitano Collection, I did not get a ticket last year but my friend did and she said the horses all went but a few and at reasonable prices for what the breed dictates. I am trying to get my hands on a ticket this year since it is right in my neck of the woods. I also want to add that we have plenty of Lusos and Andalusians here that compete at the Wellington shows against all the big name riders and their big WB’s and do VERY well. There is no prejudice with most of these judges. A good moving horse with proper training will do well in any show ring, I believe. Here are a couple of pix of my guy, Sultao HM, 10 yr. old gedling. First one is me just cantering him and the second one is actually Betsy Steiner on him working on some piaffe/passage at a clinic we had a few months back. She said she had not been on very many Lusitanos and thought he was terrific. Thought I would share a few pix. Notice he does not have the Andalusian neck that was referenced in one of the posts. Most Lusitanos do not have that short thick neck, at least the ones that I had come across.

Thanks fillyme! That is what I figured. They are NOT publishing the prices because they are NOT astronomical from what I have heard as well. So that would be counterproductive marketing I guess! Your horse is really lovely. Thanks too shiaway !!! I think that a younger not started or barely under saddle one is the right way to go as well. I have a great trainer and don’t like the circus type GP training either. I appreciate the help…think I might take the plunge !!!

I wish I had some more recent pictures of my guy. If you go here you can see him at his first show. We did training level. And I got the comment about the short neck from the judge LOL So if he looks short necked it’s my fault.

His color is neat. I think they call it roselo. It’s always had a sort of red tint to it.

Very lovely !!!

miss Dior PM if you wish to have some $$ of horses selling at the collection last year.

there are several top andalusians competing in GP, Olympics, etc., i.e. Evento, Rociero (sp). and i agree with several of these postings in that some of the andalusians are better built for dressage. I wonder if because people in general are so used to the movement of WB’s, that has become the norm?we know andalusians do not move like WB’s . these andalusians were the starters of dressage, with war, jousting, bull fighting etc. i hope the barogue breeds in general make a strong come back in numbers as they are a wonderful, intelligent, sensitive, athletic breed, as and as Forrest Gump says “and thats all i have to say about that”. lol
