Some interesting shifts after the flatwork. I couldn’t see well enough to tell the riders apart. Were there any glaring mistakes?
I’m wondering who was on the grey that broke in Section B? Keeping my fingers so crossed for Gigi to take it home.
Did they break or was it that they were doing a simple change off of the counter lead? It looked like a number of people were doing that in a specific spot so I assume it was asked for.
They broke in the corner then got the counter lead back and THEN did the simple change. I’m thinking whoever it was judges missed it since they were watching the simple changes down the long side. We probably only saw it because of the stream.
I think it was the grey at the upper end—not on front of the judges.
I’d like to see someone really be bold to the first fence. A Jessie Springsteen hand gallop. Risky, of course, because if they just get longer and longer, the distance disappears, but when it’s done right, it’s really impressive.
I would also spook at those skinny jumps.
Can we specify we would like to see Jessie year 2 and not year 1?
A * successful * Jessie hand gallop
What an interesting second course. I liked the second rider’s hand gallop and the first few jumps, and was sorry when the course kind of fell apart at the end.
I say this because the year she came back and hand-galloped with a vengeance remains the hallmark of a good working hand-gallop, to me, but I do always think of the time she had a learning experience as a cautionary tale.
My mother has finally finished watching football and wants to know if there’s a live free fan membership code anyone knows of.
Hey, go big or go home!!
Oh I know, I remember watching her do it at medal finals and miss spectacularly (and then saw her win the Maclay doing it without that stride getting away from her).
I don’t know about the membership code but she can watch it without any membership needed on the NHS website: https://www.nhs.org/nhs-live/
I’m late to the game, but who is the speaker who is arguing about the validity of the counter canter?
