Oh I know, I remember watching her do it at medal finals and miss spectacularly (and then saw her win the Maclay doing it without that stride getting away from her).

I don’t know about the membership code but she can watch it without any membership needed on the NHS website: https://www.nhs.org/nhs-live/

The year she won the Maclay on a big commanding gallop was a heck of a validation from the year before. I appreciated that she went back and said “watch me” after the first time went lopsided. That had to feel good.

I don’t know that I totally love this second round…I might agree with Steve about the two counter canters off the rollbacks being a little excessive… it’s not totally fluid and appealing to watch for me.

I agree. I might feel differently if someone nails it.

I felt the same way about the second round of Medal finals last year, tbh.

I don’t mind the counter canter rollbacks each way. It is the same test as the turns to the steeplechase double the first time, but one level up. Can you align your horse’s hind end with his front end, balance and compress?

So of the 10 we’ve seen 3 have trotted it or literally gone through it… not sure how many have successfully executed it and we’re almost halfway through

edit- or pulled the rail of the white oxer attempting to land the lead for number 10.

I bet we see some more more North Run do the five…because then you can (in theory) collect better for the second five and try to land the counter lead. I think.

I say this because the year she came back and hand-galloped with a vengeance remains the hallmark of a good working hand-gallop, to me, but I do always think of the time she had a learning experience as a cautionary tale.

I DON’T EVEN CARE she was the first one who came in and commanded attention. I would still have her first at this moment. But some folks to look forward to in this top 5!
