I watched the replay just now. It looks like the strap on the horse’s boot came loose when he hit the last jump.
And once again: Aaaaauuuuugggghhhh! It was such a good round- until the last jump.
Thanks. My connection was choppy this morning- I blame my video cable, actually, as it was OK on my laptop- and I couldn’t really tell what happened at the jump, but I did think I saw that whether cause or effect, the boot strap was loose. He is such a soft, sympathetic rider and I had really hoped he would have a good go today. I thought he had had the winning trip up until that point- or darn close to it. But at only 15 he has plenty of time to come back and win.
Sure, but overall it was a good commentary. I had to laugh when he said “no one does banks and cops anymore…” yes they do, they are called EVENTERS LOL
Good luck to everyone tomorrow!
Yes, I’m so glad he’s done the commentary the last few years. It’s an education and a history lesson rolled into one.
what happened at Medal finals?
Ha–now after reading everyone’s comments and watching the top finishers, I’m getting tempted to subscribe to watch the replay.
I love Taylor given that I’m 5’1 and I love how tiny she is and can ride so many different types of horses so beautifully. It reminds me to stop making excuses for my stubby, ineffective legs.
Surprised to read Brian Moggre’s horse had a stop–he was at the top of the leaderboard last year after the first round, if I remember correctly.
Was it the same horse? This one was gray. It was going really well until that point. Quite a few horses did not care for that jump. Several gave it the hairy eyeball, even if they didn’t stop.
Her second round was beautiful and she was right up at the top. I thought she definitely should have been in the test, but she got bumped down. Just my opinion!
Jumper class is free to view on Horse Network. They should have it on their website and their Facebook page.
Thanks, pony4me! And Ann is commentating again.
OMG this is the worst feed ever
It’s working well for me.
Where is the final list posted?
We were very proud of Sophie’s round! This is by far the biggest venue either she or her horse have seen, and she got around pretty dang well. He overjumped a couple and she got a little loose but for a first shot at a major final our crew is very happy. Lots of carnage today so to have her horse march around and her not have any major mistakes was a win in our book.
She did a super job! Especially with a relatively green horse in that venue! She had a better round than many who have tons more mileage in that setting. Good for her!
I would like The Chronicle to do a story on VDL San Remy, the horse that Madison Goetzman is on. I understand he is 18and just comes out for Finals. I want to do what he does the rest of the year for fitness and at what age he stopped showing all year and if there are plans to keep going. He is wonderful!!
We used to have one that followed a similar schedule. He used to live out in a field for ten months of the year, then come back in to get legged up sometime in August. He got ribbons at the finals multiple times. For him, it worked.
I saw a FB post from Beacon Hill which mentioned a 12:15 PM start time for the flat phase. Has that been changed from the original scheduled 1:00 start?
