Maclay finals

I will say that I think there were only two who came off in the first round, so just about one out of 110. Which I believe is a pretty low average for this class.

Knock wood I didn’t jinx it for the rest of the day. :crossed_fingers:

and no I’m not done. 3 paragraphs to go.

surprised it let me post that last one, all caps and stuff

You’re around here liking posts, it sends a notification, as I say to my cat you are about as stealthy as a hippopotamus on land.

Hippos are very fast, don’t underestimate me

Lol. They’re also extremely dangerous, despite being herbivores, I believe.

But one notices them coming, if the hippo is on land.

I’m going for a walk. I always get frustrated because I can’t see the angle I like in the flat phase, so I’m gonna avoid that this year.

Breaking Bad? Walter White’s wife was Skylar. And Good Will Hunting in the late 90’s. Minnie Driver played Matt Damon’s love interest Skylar.

Close up of the front of jump 1 courtesy of Capital Hill’s Instagram. I’m thinking it might be more the away from the in gate factor than the jump itself, because that doesn’t look too outlandish?

Hmm. Maybe that’s it. I’ve only seen one of those two, and I didn’t remember that name from it. Lol.

Thanks!

It doesn’t look that funky in this picture. I think Brian said something about it looking a little odd next to the wall due to the background color? Hard to tell from this angle, but several horses seemed to take exception to it.

That probably could have happened with any jump in that location, though.

Good grief, that’s a lot of dark bays in the first flat. One chestnut.

Just got home from an IEA show and tuning in for real. Should we talk about what looks like a triple combination in the middle of the ring with the pastels at A and C and an airy square oxer at B? Maybe it will move when they put the rest of the jumps out for round two?

Can’t tell who, but someone’s got a seriously lateral walk. Not great for an Eq flat.

I have a feeling they put those jumps there for a reason. Not to move them again.

I just commented on that elsewhere as well. It was very noticeable

I will never understand how this few riders get this bunched up in a ring this large.

Same thing bothered me at the Ocala Eq Championship last winter.

Interesting that most of these kids did not cross their irons. I never liked crossing the irons but I know some trainers swear it must be done

I’m surprised at how many kids did not cross their stirrups.

I figured the same but also didn’t want to get ahead of myself.
