I love makeup. Love it. Love love love love love. LOVE makeup. That’s just me. Life is short, embrace what you love, don’t worry about what people say or think or do.

I suppose that could be why I’m still single. (or maybe it’s because I’m judgmental.
While I want to agree - if she feels more comfortable with it on, she might as well. I can’t help but laugh at your last line, though!
As a brunette, I don’t think it’s any easier for a person with a different hair color, it just depends on whether they care or not about their physical appearance.
I’d personally weigh pros and cons. This list may or may not be slightly in jest. I would really do whatever makes you feel comfortable and not give a lick about what anyone else thinks.
PROS(?):
CONS(?):
- Sweaty foundation stuck under your helmet? Definitely, definitely a con, especially when your forehead ends up a different color from the rest of your face after a ride.
- Spending an extra 20-40-60 minutes to put and take off make up before and after, not considering touch ups after you have dirt in your nose, dustcrust in your eyes, and accidentally smeared lipstick across your face when a fly flew into your mouth. Well, I think that's a con.
- Having your horse sneeze on you/slobber on you and you realize New freckles were not part of the agenda and "hay slime green" does not go with the purple eyeshadow or magenta lipstick you have on. Totally a fashion faux pas - CON.
Seriously, do it if you like it, but I doubt that anyone in the barn will notice a difference or even care that much.
Whatever makes you feel good. Usually I come from work, so have makeup on. Weekends I usually add eyebrow powder because otherwise I only have like two natural eyebrow hairs and feel naked without some form of eyebrow over my eyes…
I do put on my eyebrows and lipstick for shows though. The lipstick (even as a neutral), makes me feel like I am put together (the human equivalent of having my mane braided???). Its just my thing.
So long as you don’t look inappropriate (ie Tammy Faye Baker in the old days) and/or your makeup isn’t interfering with your riding (I never wear mascara on riding days because chunks tend to fall into my eyes), do what you want and have fun!
For those with acne who use basic concealer to try to cover the red, go on youtube, there are some great videos about how to use color to hide the red. Just putting foundation on dulls the red, depending on the type of blemishes you have there are different colors to use to truly hide it.
I don’t personally wear make up unless we are truly having a doll up date night.
Honestly, I’m weird. I never wore it while dating. I wanted to know the guy like me for the real me. Once things got serious I’d use basic make ups because I did like to have the flawless skin look now and then.
I do agree it’s sad people wear it, not because they enjoy it, but because they don’t want to be made fun of. Hoping the day comes where we are stronger than that on both sides.
If you enjoy it, wear it. I have a friend who is an artist with make up, it’s fun. To her it’s like picking what clothes to wear. She doesn’t care if YOU Like it, it’s for her. To ME, that is the healthy attitude about it.
Covering a scar, severe acne, totally understandable. The ones who make me sad are those that think no one will like them with out it.
Wear it to the barn if you like it, don’t do it if you think it’s because you have to.
As a fellow blonde (and a very pale one at that!), I almost never go out in public without eyeliner and mascara (and possibly a little under eye concealer since I’m so pale that any dark circles will stand out. Not heavy eyeliner though, and nothing else on my face that’s just going to melt off. Sunscreen is a must for me though!
The way I see it, I make every effort to make my horse look presentable and well turned-out, so I’m going to do the same for myself. If we’re just hacking around at home and won’t be assaulting anyone’s eyeballs with my natural face, then I usually go without

Hmm. I like horsies.
I had a horse friend who took a fall one day and was knocked unconscious. She came to and there was a handsome paramedic kneeling beside her. After the ambulance ride and ER visit, when she checked out okay, he ended up calling and asking her out.
She told me she was so glad she’d worn a little makeup to the barn that day, convinced that if he’d seen her without makeup he wouldn’t have called.
I’m not so sure, but they ended up getting married.
As someone once said, “even an old barn looks better with a little paint.”
