"Making Pegasus" Breeder in California

The 2nd track is the fastest horse in the world. Not the fastest Arabian, nor the fastest Quarter horse nor the fastest Thoroughbred; simply the fastest horse regardless of current breed classifications.

Why do they want ‘fast’? Where are they going so fast?

Outside genetic contributors must have won an Olympic Gold Medal or a World or National Championship.

Names?

I didn’t know that gold medal / nat’l championship breed stock was so accessible to random dreamers.

The basic formula is large athletic Warmbloods bred with the racing Quarter Horse for the short distance burst speed, the Thoroughbred for its mid distance speed, the racing Arabian for its endurance and great hooves.

Wow, brilliant, wonder why no one ever thought of horse genetics like that! :smirk: /snark

This really does sound like pre-teens who have a sizable Breyer herd, a Squarespace website account, and no actual experience with horses.

Yegads! This numbnutt thinks he can make the perfect cake with horse ingredients. A dash of Arabian mixed into a cup of TB and a cup of QH, slowly stir in a tablespoon of Fresian and ta-da! Super horse: fast and hairy.

 I mean, I don’t think they have bad feet at all, but what a weird trait to pick out.

Yeah, when you click “read more” on the philosophy page you get an entire manifesto and it’s definitely heavy on the SovCit stuff. Which I would argue is also pretty culty…

Also, I still do not get the obsession with giant horses. 16hh is my happy place, I can enjoy a large pony and from experience, I know that 17.2 is “the ground is very far away, but I’ll take a couple deep breaths and will probably be okay?” I don’t want “jaw-dropping size”, I want nice middling size.

Agreed. Super icky and kind of dumb. Consciousness is the only unknown. What? I could find some physicists, epidemiologists, archeologists, mathematicians, and astronomers, to name a few, who would disagree.

How did I know that when I clicked on the stallion page there’d be lots of short necked prancers with hairy legs in flashy colors?

And look! A new breed! A Gypsyian, the result of that hallowed cross between a Gypsy horse and a Friesian. Soon to be the Labradoodle of the horse world!

Good grief.

Also, it’s like mixing fruit juices – right? A pour of pineapple, a pour of mango, and so on. And you get the perfect blend !!! :star_struck:

[I wonder why no one thought of this before ??? !!! ]

I don’t think they ever heard of genes that are recessive, dominant, incomplete dominance, and the fact that genes can alter the expression of other genes. Traits you breed for don’t show up. Traits you didn’t breed for are hard to get rid of. Etc. and so on. You know – science.

Don’t forget you can get THUNDER the wunder stud (read: will mount anything including the fence post) for the low, low price of….

Please! Have a guess at the price of this lovely Shirlusian

It sounds like they’re describing a fine wine or perfume, not a, let’s be honest, mutt horse. No offense to the horses. They can’t help that stupid humans have made terrible breeding decisions.

I hope you’re right. I would hate to think this is a hoarder in the making.

ETA: Very unfortunately, you weren’t right.

This seems to be a pretty common thought pattern with some “Warmblood breeders”. There is a lengthy thread here about another person insisting they are doing the same thing. Thankfully that person does not own their own stallion(s).

Ugh. Are we going to see another hoarding/abuse case unfold? Why are people like this?

Anyone able to tell how old this program is? Meaning - the horses look well cared for (at least on the site), but if this is a new venture…

Is it just me or do the horse photos look “off.” I don’t mean lame. I mean like AI-edited or photoshopped.

Plus, the majority of them look nothing like their alleged breeding. They mostly look grade/mustang-like.

So weird.

They’ve been operating since at least 2019, this isn’t new.

The horses photographed do at least look in good weight and good feet (think about KS’s poor broodies!!). The facilities look decent, and yep am aware that shite often hides behind the shedrows, but there is a bit of consistency to the horses at least. The mares foaling look good, good weight, nice stalls.

Just too many weirdly-bred foals at outrageous prices. Gives me KS or Virginia Sport Horse vibes. Oh, and all the boys have nuts. Not a gelding to be seen, so that says something about the owner/s!!

It’s like a Nigerian Prince scammer reincarnated as a majikal breeder of fairy tales & enlightenment in Southern California. I thought it would be all AI text because that’s what the snippets here read like, but… it’s just… too much, even for AI. Terrifying premise for producing more animals that more or less look like the ideal slaughter candidate.

The horses do appear to be in fairly good health, and on that barren land that’s taking a fair amount of management. And I freaking love their logo. GAH.
