Anyone else watching this series?
Where are you seeing it- what channel?
It’s in parts on YouTube. I watched it when I was out sick…lovely! he’s such a sweet, kind man…
I saw it on PBS maybe several months ago. It was quite good, but wished it had been more detailed and much much longer. Rare to see good quality horse programming at all. I would not mind seeing it again.
It is having a re-run on our Knowledge network (Canada).
You mean Doc Martin? I love the series. Are we talking the same Martin Clunes??
Same Martin Clunes, but he did a documentary about horses.
Here’s part one.
Weren’t there just two episodes (Horse Power, I mean, not Doc Martin)? I only saw two, unless that’s all our local pubic broadcaster showed.
I did enjoy it, and love his enthusiasm about all things horse. I’m also a big fan of Doc Martin.
Wow. I’m working my way through Doc Martin and love it and it’s SO bizarre to see Martin smile or be happy about anything! (Sort of like hearing House speak with an English accent!)
I so don’t agree with the race horse trainer that horses run from fear. Any good athlete loves what they do, and that dude clearly doesn’t know horses if he thinks they’re not competitive.

Exactamundo!!
Yes the documentary was two parts, those are broken into smaller bits on YouTube so you don’t have to wait ages for them to load.
Thanks for sharing this - so nice to find a new gem to share with my barn mates!
I saw it on RFD-tv. I’m a fan of Doc Martin so seeing him smile and being humble was a surprise. Loved the seeing the Queen’s horses!
Bumping this up as Heavy Horsepower was just added on Netflix (Canadian).
Will have to go watch the other part on YouTube.
Heavy Horsepower was on our USA Netflix also. We just watched it.
And on Australian Netflix as well.
Saw it last night - thanks to you guys.
He is a lovely man and absolutely delights in being around horses. And his farm in Dorset - so gorgeous, England is so beautiful.
If there are two movies, what is the name of the second one? I would enjoy watching the second one to see what he covers in it.
Just a note for anyone considering driving their equine, there is a LOT of things shown during the training of Martin’s young horses I would not recommend doing. For the film, they got away with things that are quite dangerous. Maybe because the horses were so young, 2yrs, and because they are Draft horses who can react differently SOMETIMES, to new things that light horses freak out with. Just a word of warning.
I did enjoy seen the many kinds of draft horses and how they were used, it was very interesting. Thanks for bringing this movie back to our attention. And possibly a second movie with Martin, if I read it right?
I liked his show about drafts and seeing him drive his own was fun, but I liked the other show better. He was in Mongolia (I think) and they gave him a horse. Of course he had to leave it behind because his transport was a helicopter! So interesting seeing how people raise and train in other parts of the world.
I didn’t know it was on Netflix. Going to check it out now.
