Maryland 5*

So glad I got to see that!

A Judge was doing this at our Provincial Champs too and I don’t understand the logic. The entrance to the ring was behind the judges booth, and when you walked in, just passed the booth, the judge rang the bell. It was freezing cold, extremely windy, and there was a pumpkin festival happening at the venue with pumpkins, statues, and scarecrows all over the place. Why would the judge not let riders especially lower levels and juniors walk around the ring at least once? I found that poor taste and mean of the judge.

Anyone see times for XC tomorrow?

What a competitive field! The top are all right there together! So happy to see Thomas still looking fantastic. Thomas looked so content and happy.

It’s always run the same weekend since Maryland 5* began and even prior when it was Fairhill International.

I’m pretty sure it’s just FEI 3* that got changed because you can ride a double
In the usea intermediate dressage if I’m not mistaken.

3* starts xc at 9am

5* at 1:30

I got teary too!

I’m well aware that he is disliked, but he was legitimately too choked up to be interviewed. I suspect this is Ballaghmor Class’s last hurrah, and it was moving to see him be so emotional.

Not always. 20 years ago you had Radnor (the CCI2* championship) on the 2nd week in October, Midsouth (the CCI1* championship) the third week in October, and Fair Hill (the CCI3* championship) the final week in October. I know because I groomed/rode at all three of them.

Then when Fair Hill took over the 2* somehow it sometimes coincided with Midsouth.

You had a very nice ride!

I watched every 4 and 5 year old (or what I could see from the in gate). They’re definitely my favorite part of the weekend!

I went on a fabulous coursewalk with Ema Klugman and the footing on course is amazing. Kudos to the grounds crew! We haven’t had any rain for weeks and most everything is a hard dust bowl, but they have gone above and beyond keeping the galloping lanes in prime condition.

Well everyone I was very naughty today……

She came in way under budget and fits PERFECTLY……so……then this happened….

I did stop at the RLG booth and loved the training shirts, but my CC needs to cool down for a while :money_with_wings:

You guys are the real heroes of this weekend! My legs were so cooked by this afternoon, I appreciated any ride I could get.

This made me laugh out loud.

Regarding the bell commentated from others, they are on a very strict schedule of from when the previous horse exits the dressage court to when the next horse gets the bell rung. Because it’s only one path in and out, they are slow in getting the next rider in the ring so they have to ring the bell basically as soon as they see them.

You can play it back on H&C, I think it as around 2:50-3hr in mark.
