Incredibly, it appears that LK went to a show about two weeks before August 7th, and did the Poulin clinic at the farm just over a week before August 7th. And was planning to show again in another week or so.

If you were really in fear for your life, would you be doing these things? Who does that?

Why? Since if you were Previously Horsed, you would understand that we all sign these documents, and if you really understand the law, you would understand that nobody can sign away their own murder. Also, Lauren herself said that the document was similar to the state’s blanket disclaimer. Here it is again;

I don’t think submitting a complaint should make anyone concerned, that how things get cleaned up. If there’s nothing there, no harm no foul.

Plus, there are many many many people discussed here on CoTH (not just this thread) on the daily that aren’t here to participate nor do they know there being discussed. I mean, heck, look at the threads where people critique a horse and rider without their approval (see “4 year showing 4th level” thread in this sub forum).

So I don’t necessarily agree or disagree with what you’re saying, it’s just that this happens all the time. Not just on this thread, and what makes it sometimes ok and sometimes not ok?

I have a lot to catch up on, but I am convinced that a person who is presently without an equine partner has never in fact been with one. They clearly have never been in a training environment… but they also don’t seem to “get” horse people. Or the economics.

Most barns require more extensive and detailed liability waivers that go beyond the one sentence stated on the signs.
However, if she had signed the standard barn liability waiver when she first arrived in 2018 and/or 2019, I don’t see why MB would need a simple waiver re-signed on Aug 4.

I have to wonder whether the document contained changes to the board and training contract, or whether there was no written contract originally and MB was asking her to agree to terms that she had not previously agreed to.

The sign on the wall would not make a more extensive liability waiver superfluous.

Totes. I’m still astonished that there are major training barns open until 10 pm. My experience is closed at 5pm, and if course all day Monday.

BTW I left in a snit once. Dismounted, put the horse away myself, and left. Assistant tried to coax me back. I said ship out to this barn (layup barn near me) tomorrow with the two horse, send me the bill. Best move ever.

I wonder if I can ask guests to leave our house Does that have to be cleared with the bank?

A BO once did this to me, upset that I asked the staffer who fed fields how my horse was doing wrt meals as he was new to living out. “Ask me, I know everything that goes on here” from the guy who couldn’t have walked out to those fields…

Not a week later I go get my horse and his nose is shredded like he’d had a run in with Wolverine.
I took him down to the barn and ‘I know everything’ BO asked “what happened to his nose?”
“I was coming to ask you, cause you know everything that goes on, right?”
