Absolutely. I boarded in a barn that sold and moved and every single boarder and student showed up with their trailers and in one day that group effort got the whole barn and 20 horses moved.

That’s just what you do.

A couple I worked for bought a new farm 15 minutes from their former property, I remember what a process it was to move the broodmares, foals and young horses and there weren’t that many. It would take multiple people on both ends to get a stable the size of MBs moved states away, especially without him to lead the team. Anyone who doesn’t realize this hasn’t tried to move more than one horse if they’ve even done that. The logistic of moving as many horses that were in NJ to Florida would take a good team, with someone staying behind to make sure everything was taken care of at that end.

I find it very odd that it was LO who had only met him a year before who closed up the barn when everyone else ran away (48 hours).

Ran away? Since someone had to haul the horses to Florida and there had to be people in Florida to take care of them when they landed there, it is possible that LO offered to take care of closing down the barn? It’s highly possible that one person (maybe JH?) did a couple of trips back and forth from Florida to move horses, so someone would have to stay in NJ and someone in Florida to take care of horses on both ends. If I could arrange things so I could stick around to help out in a situation like this for someone I liked, I’d sure as heck do it. Maybe being helpful when you can isn’t a thing in your world, but it is in mine.

LO on 48 hours said everyone left and LO was the only one to get his barn closed down. I certainly hope you are right that JH and LO’s daughter, the working student helped. That would be great. The impression I have is that too many people were agitating him and they all abandoned him soon after the shooting. Can’t really blame anyone, it had to be traumatic for all.

I think she meant left to relocate.
JH still works there last I looked.
The people I know who worked (or rode with) with MB have not abandoned him.

Yup, the last WS position I had, my horse died (his board and training was my pay for work on the farm) and then a day later the BO/trainer had a cardiac event… Boarders called me and I ended up covering the barn for the three months as BO recovered from a bypass. While we were under quarantine from state vet, no less, because my horse died of EHV neuro. And obviously since my horse was dead, I was not compensated.

Hindsight, maybe he should have evicted MH and RC (along with her gun), calmed LK down and kept RG working to repair the house. At least he was getting some board from LK as compared to none from MH.

Was this a serious comment? If so I think I’ll go insane refraining from replying.

2ns Paragraph: I said JK threatened MB because he most certainly did threaten him. Multiple times in fact. MB didn’t want to take LK up north, nor put her in the house in NJ. JK told him to do these things or else. Just like JK has done to other stable owners in other states, like the lady in NC.

Didn’t Lauren actually admit to this in one of her long drawn out posts somewhere? I feel like I remember her saying that. Was it part of the manifesto?

And this is exactly what happened!!! Everyone helped moving the horses and equipment to the FL facility except MH. LO stayed and packed up and cleaned out the barn while it was on the market, commuting to and from her home in another state and running her own business. That’s what friends and support people do. Everyone involved is still with Barisone Dressage in a manor of speaking except for MH who is doing alright by herself with her business and recent marriage.

How did anyone think all of Michael’s belongings got packed up and moved? Magic?

I’m sure LO knows the many, many people all over the East Coast who offered to help in any way possible. Far from running away from Michael, dozens of people ran TO him to help.

Clearly there are people posting on this thread who have never benefitted from a friend, neighbor or colleague offering to help in some manner. Of course, you have to have a friend IRL, be a decent neighbor or a respected colleague in order to receive a kindness.

Last I saw, JH was coaching/training LO’s daughter and she was very happy with the results.
