Perhaps they are thinking they won’t need to go after MB and SGF after a big fat CBS settlement and they can fade into the sunset to escape further scrutiny.
LO mentioned on the GFM that 48 Hours had to hold back on a lot of the story due to concerns about a lawsuit. See what good it did to try to play fair with the K-Klan? They are getting sued anyway.
I guess next the K’s will sue Bilinkas and Deininger and Silver for besmirching their reputation. And Twitter, and L&C, and YouTube, COTH, Andreas Helgstrand (and Mark Bellissimo for that matter). Maybe they will add internet service providers to the lawsuit, for providing the technology that allows the world to see what utter scumbugs that entire family and its minions are. Oh, what about makers of mobile phones, tablets, PCs, etc., etc.? Sure, why not sue Apple and Samsung and Google and Microsoft. They could even sue the FCC. Hey, how about USEF and SS? Wow, even Congress (for setting up SS). My God, the possibilities are endless!
My guess is that it is all puffery. She thinks it makes her look like a real person of means because she can sue 48 hours for not doing what she wanted them to do. It is kind of like a dare to her - Go ahead and disagree with me, but please note I am willing to sue 48 hours so disagree with me at your own risk. I doubt an actual lawsuit was filed.
Loxahatchee is the next town over from Wellington. Slightly less expensive property value, so lots of people buy places there and ship over to the shows in Wellington.
If so, this is the height of stupidity. News organisations vet stuff heavily and also are loath to roll over and settle just to take the path of least resistance b/c how could they report on any news at all if they are willing to simply cave at the first sign of pushback? The only reporters who would turn tail that quickly would work for like a gossip column, not a real news organisation.
CBS has faced much more legitimate opposition in much bigger and more controversial stories than this penny ante nonsense.
They are making themselves look absolutely comical - nay, delusional - with this latest threat.
It seems that people believe the USEF is “much more” than what it really is. Yet if you look up their lists of rulings and suspensions, it clear they have a very narrow focus.
MANY suspensions of people who owe the USEF or licensed competition money.
People whose horses have had positive drug testing results at a show.
People who personally have tested positive at a show (very rarely is testing done but just recently two people in Europe, FEI levels, got hit.
A few people accused of animal cruelty - at a show
People who Safe Sport has investigated and suspended from sport. Note that SS is almost entirely focused on activities and actions involving minors.
The USEF is not going to get itself in the middle of a bunch of craziness that goes on in the real real world, or even horse related stuff outside shows unless it results in an arrest/conviction.
What does this tweet, posted nearly a month after the fact, even mean? They’re going to play hardball against CBS? I cannot imagine that CBS didn’t 1) have iron clad contracts with all interviewees, and 2) research and run by legal any claims that were made.
That’s so cool that Google University issues JDs! I guess I should not be surprised since I look things up on webmd all the time, so I have my Google MD. Congrats on all your hard work paying off. A true accomplishment! /s
IMO - because it sounds good, and its what they hope everyone will hold near and dear. But reading that code of contact - its primarily focused on the “team” and representing “my country”. The three rules (horseman, sportsman, citizen) are really both fuzzy and so obvious as to make one wonder…
Question for the attorneys here (the real ones, not the overqualified one): Every single time the prosecution objects to one of his questions, he immediately says “Grounds.” I assume this is what one of his jailhouse lawyers advised him to do. Does this mean grounds for appeal? If so, how in the world will hundreds of grounds of appeal be addressed?
