My guess is that it is all puffery. She thinks it makes her look like a real person of means because she can sue 48 hours for not doing what she wanted them to do. It is kind of like a dare to her - Go ahead and disagree with me, but please note I am willing to sue 48 hours so disagree with me at your own risk. I doubt an actual lawsuit was filed.

The best part of this, to me, is that she chose not to talk about MB, or the whole incident.

Ok, she had the opportunity to get whatever she wanted known out there in the world, and God knows she repeated ad nauseam that 48 Hours was going to love her recordings and 48 Hours this, that and the other thing. So, along comes 48 Hours, and she declined to do any of those things she boasted far and wide she was going to do on that platform.

And, now she’s threatening to sue them.

And they change the rules every 15 minutes depending on who is asking.

I, and others, have been told by USEF/SS for YEARS that they are “working on the complaints”. They move slower than the NJ Judicial system for sure. I suspect one reason LK hasn’t shown is to show USEF it won’t hurt her to suspend or ban her at all. She certainly isn’t a professional and never will be. She has zero big name sponsors, doesn’t really do squat so she continues to hide…except for filing (apparently) new law suits. She has trashed USEF on many sm outlets, so she quite obviously feels she doesn’t need them anyway.

Raise your hand if you believe her Twitter declaration is an empty threat!

Question for the attorneys here (the real ones, not the overqualified one): Every single time the prosecution objects to one of his questions, he immediately says “Grounds.” I assume this is what one of his jailhouse lawyers advised him to do. Does this mean grounds for appeal? If so, how in the world will hundreds of grounds of appeal be addressed

He’s asking the grounds for the objection before (and sometimes after) the prosecution can say “hearsay” or “relevance” or whatever. Mostly it’s just to be disruptive.

All that matters is whether the $5,000 exceeded the marginal cost of having those two horses on the farm.

Very basic, as you say.

There were 4 horses by early summer. And… two people living in the apartment.

$5000 didn’t cover all that. Not even close.

And was she paying additional for lessons? She must have been. How many lessons a week? At what hourly rate?

The whole thing is a perplexing mess.

I do believe he bought into both LK and JKs “puffery” as you called it about their finances early on. But… by summer 2019, he realized there were limits.

I was referring to the initial deal for two horses and the apt.

The details on the deals for the next two are murky. Maybe Jay-T was purchased with the promise he could live on the farm for free? So he could get the &40,000 purchase price? The bartered renovations for the fourth horse?

If at any point he did not want to enter these additional deals to keep her or train more horses, he could have declined the additional deals.

I’ve not seen anything quite like it outside these threads and a couple posters, most notably LK herself.

I guess I’ve seen one field with a similar issue: military families. Some spouses and other relatives take on a bit too strong a personal association with their spouse’s/family member’s military experience. I understand it is STRONGLY frowned upon by those who don’t - considered a real faux pas in that community; not a done thing by respectable folks.

The breathtaking arrogance of self-declaring over qualification with no supporting professional credentials or experience is, just, wow. Especially given none of the actual professionals who are doing yeoman’s work on these threads have ever shown the kind of bloated ego required to announce the same status for themselves. Hell, I’m an actual lawyer, but transactional, and I just sit back and appreciate the litigators and court professionals giving us the gift of their time and expertise while I listen and learn.

Pearls before swine and all that, I guess.

Ah yes. No bragging by anyone or misrepresenting legal verdicts, building code, licensing, tenant evictions, all of which are online that anyone can read for themselves. Especially no one diagnosing others with mental health labels like NPD, calling people sociopaths, psychopaths, etc. Then throw in the greatest melodrama . Pearls before swine? More like tossing manure on the wall to see what sticks. What will the masses believe? What alternate reality may work in a court with a jury?

The civil liability claim will look at the proximate cause of her injuries.

I doubt a team of top psychiatrists would have the arrogance to claim they can parse out precisely when and why the delusions arose and became severe enough for him to shoot someone.

The fact that he was insane was the crucial issue in the criminal trial. I know the mob is certain that it was LK alone who “drove him insane”, but I seriously doubt “drove him insane” is a psychiatric term, or that actual psychiatrists would think that they could meaningfully determine that his acute mental crisis was precipitated this person or that event.

But if you’re going ignore the concept of “proximate cause” to go that much deeper, then one could say MHG is responsible for not recognizing the impending breakdown and getting him treatment before he shot someone. It would be the rabbit hole if all rabbit holes. I imaging that’s why civil liability depends on the “proximate cause”.

Maybe LK should sue MHG then. I’m sure she will get really far with that.

VHM, that is a really good point. If plaintiff is going to base her case on the insinuation that MHG bears responsibility for MB’s mental breakdown, why isn’t MHG named as a defendant?

Answer: Plaintiff knows it is an absolutely preposterous argument. IOW, that dog won’t hunt (as we say in the south).

No one is asserting that the shooting was MHGs fault.

I’m pointing out the rabbit holeness of asserting that LK is responsible for an insane man shooting her because her actions, among a whole complex of factors, may have contributed to the acute mental state. That’s going way beyond the proximate cause of her injuries. If you choose that rabbit hole, then you have to ask why MHG did not recognize his breakdown (there were signs), why RC handed the gun to him, etc.

MB’s mental break did not occur until your idol, LK, filed a false report against him with SS - thereby DELIBERATELY trying to destroy his romantic relationship, his business, his career, his reputation, his standing in the community as a decent, upstanding, law-abiding citizen.

Yes, he may have been stressed in the preceding days and weeks - and especially because LK was already bad-mouthing him all over SM and making horrible accusations about him - but the final straw that drove him over the edge was the arrival of CPS on the farm in response to LK’s FALSE report with SS.

And I am rather disgusted with USEF that it hasn’t taken action against her for weaponizing SS in this manner. (Well, I’ve been disgusted with USEF for a long, long time but that is another story.)

I am not obtuse.
I see no evidence her report to SS was false or that she was trying to destroy his relationship with MHG.
LK is not my idol.

I also thought the 48 Hours episode was very balanced. But as I remember it, the presenter herself stated the background as a battle of two women for MBs attention.

Then they interviewed people from each side.

I don’t find the idea about a rivalry between MHG and LK strange at all. I think it was his inability to choose between MHGs demand that he send LK off and his financial interest in keeping her as a client that created the mess. He should have made a choice, and instead he dithered and put off making a decision.

I don’t.

I think LK and JK are big talkers about money. I’m sure in the beginning part of her time with MB, he had hopes that she would prove to be a lucrative client. I think by the spring of 2019 it was becoming clear she was more trouble than she was worth. But sometimes it’s hard to cut clients loose when you initially had a promising impression that they would prove lucrative. I think MB dithered a bit for that reason… and failed to see just what sort of a monster she was until it was too late.

I don’t think it’s anymore complicated than that.

I still have doubts about JKs net worth, and sincere questions about what the actual source of the $$$$ is when it comes to funding LKs horses and riding at present.

The whole situation has NEVER added up to me.

$5,000 a month is better than $0 a month.

Was there a waiting list of boarders wanting to bring horses in at full board and training and zero empty stalls when he was considering telling LK to leave? No? Then telling her to leave means a loss of income. This is true whether he’s operating at a profit or at s loss at the time.

Maybe he planned to ask her to leave after he got more boarders lined up. Maybe he wanted to get commissions on more horses he sold her before he asked her to leave. Maybe he believed her puffery about unlimited means.

Again, 48 Hours. The interviewer pointed out the Coth mantra - “Isn’t $5,000 a month for two horses in training plus living quarters a sweet deal?” He said, yeah maybe, but there are bills to pay.

Not if you have no profit with that $5000.

BASIC rules of business so you should understand.

All that matters is whether the $5,000 exceeded the marginal cost of having those two horses on the farm.
