Especially when you factor in that MB was a good foot taller than LK. So how could he have managed to shoot her at an upward angle if they were both upright?

I still feel like the trajectory is problematic in terms of thinking the shooting went the way LK and RG said it did. The guy who testified about the ballistics (can’t remember his name or official title) and such explained that the gun could have been fired anywhere from the truck bumper forward and in an upward direction. To me, that seems like it was fired from the ground in a struggle.

And the angle of the entry and exit wounds indicated the same thing, as well as the fact that the bullet track in the door frame and out the window could have hit LK in that upward fashion and continued on upward through the wall/window behind her.

That guy’s testimony made the biggest impression on me. I have been amazed more people haven’t talked about that. The little bit of forensic evidence that does exist doesn’t point to their story at all. Makes the most sense that the gun was fired from the ground.

I just wanted to point that out in defense of the “grassy knoll” theories. It really doesn’t seem like MB was the aggressor or that things happened as the witnesses claimed.

I agree with you a thousand percent and we have spoken about it. Which is why the accidental discharge during a scuffle with the dog biting the groin or self defense is believed by so many people.

It doesn’t have to be picking sides. One can see two troubled people interacting in a mutually assured destructive scenario. There doesn’t have to be good and evil, just flawed people.

No one has to like or dislike one to dislike or like the other.

MB didn’t do anything! He had a private conversation venting frustration and that’s it. Had LK not be conducting illegal surveillance she wouldn’t know it. Had she moved when she should have the entire situation would never have happened.

MB did nothing wrong at all. This was entirely on LKs shoulders alone.

Even LK getting shot was most likely not his fault whether by his mental state, accidental discharge or self defense.

He did say he was going to ruin her riding competition trajectory-never compete in FEI, make her so miserable she would want to leave, he knew how, he’d done it before and was very good at it per MHG testimony reading his texts.

I know you have been around the block a few times and I believe you are in the older than dirt category just like me… I say this not so you can give me information about you, but to show that I believe you have been involved with horses for a good long time.
That is something every boarding barn ever would say when trying to get rid of that boarder they do not want there anymore. Even the nicest bestest kindest boarding barn owner ever, I am sure has said something like that in confidence to a friend, when talking about getting rid of that really difficult/annoying/does not fit in boarder.

I am sorry that for some reason you have chosen this hill to fight against everyone and anything. You had some good points back when this started, now you are even ignoring logical things that have proof behind them.

He may or may not have shot her. Certainly up to that point it cannot be argued that he did anything to her.

Her own actions were significant in what ended up transpiring. Had she gone like a normal person would have she would not have gotten shot. It was her continued behavior that set that ball rolling.

Again, whatever he said in frustration to another would be unknown were it not for her illegal surveillance or from trial evidence after the fact.

There are now MANY people who have reported her. MANY people who don’t think she should be in good standing to compete.

In what way was anything proven “unsafe” prior to CPS showing up at the house? CPS didn’t even find anything “unsafe” as the kids were not taken, which leads me to believe there is zero credence to her claims.

They only found 2 shell casings. LK was hit twice. RG could have been mistaken that a round was aimed at him. Something leaving holes like bullets would went through the windows.

A rock thrown by a lawn mower would leave a hole in a window like that. One hole, not holeS, plural. The claim was for a third shot, not multiple shots.

Hardly a misquote since I didn’t quote you.

Your hubris in saying that you know more about law than people who are lawyers and those who have spent decades in the legal support profession is laughable. Just because you google a few things does not make you an expert.

I love CoTH because I think many people can learn here. Most posters come here looking for help, or advice. However, there is the odd thread where a novice or a teenager saw a few Parelli videos and ran a barrel pattern on their back yard QH starts to buck against the good and well-meaning advice from posters on this forum. Posts made by real horsewomen who are professionals or skilled amateurs with a lifetime of experience that say “hey kid, I’ve been in your shoes, let me tell you what I wish I knew back then.” And the teenager huffs, puffs and claims that they know better.

Just something to think about.

It seems that people believe the USEF is “much more” than what it really is. Yet if you look up their lists of rulings and suspensions, it clear they have a very narrow focus.

1. MANY suspensions of people who owe the USEF or licensed competition money.
2. People whose horses have had positive drug testing results at a show.
3. People who personally have tested positive at a show (very rarely is testing done but just recently two people in Europe, FEI levels, got hit.

I think I’ve said this before, but I have never in my life seen a human get drug tested at any USEF horse show. Not once. Horses, yes, many, many, many times.

I think the human drug testing probably only gets done at the FEI level, and by the FEI officials, and then USEF just follows up with reciprocal suspensions for people that are set down by the FEI for that issue.

So obviously that is going to be a fairly small percentage of exhibitors who even compete at that level in the first place, much less flunk a human drug test.

It would really be FEI and International competition (WEG, Pan Am Games, Olympics) that athletes would be tested.
