I recall from the real estate photos that there was a built in bench in the locker area, but it was in a different part of the room. LK said people sat in front of her locker, and clearly there’s no bench there.

In the pic ekat has above, the pic identifying the lockers, there are sets of bars, stall grates or something foreground, right.
All of this, where the lockers are etc is more a hall/aisle way than room…
Its my recollection that there’s a corner there, where those black metal grates are leaning, around which is a recessed, built in bench.
Lets add, we all know how sound is in a barn with hard surfaces and high ceilings.

That’s (the bench) pretty damn far and through closed doors from the club room, tack room, office etc. suggesting there’s no way a device at that bench would collect conversations in those other rooms.
There had to be other devices all over the place, based on the eavesdropped convo LK repeated on SM.

For anyone believing that a small handheld recorder, placed inside a helmet (as LK has said on this forum), inside a wooden locker, could clearly capture conversations that occur on the other side of the room or in an office a couple rooms away, try it out yourself. Place your phone on record, put it in your helmet and in a wooden box, then walk away and talk at different distances. See how close you have to be to hear back the words you say on your phone recording

Yes, she said she had it exactly there, in her locker along that bank of lockers, where there is no bench.
At least 4 people testified about conversations from the clubhouse showing up on social media. The clubhouse is up those little stairs, and through that door. So, I’m not sure how little recorders that fit in a pocket, bought off Amazon (per LK’s trial testimony) would have a mic that strong, but I could be wrong.

More likely there is text evidence we haven’t seen, that discusses where they actually placed the recorders.

I would assume that a normal VAR would not be able to capture a conversation that wasn’t also easy to hear by the naked ear. I doubt she had FBI surveillance level dish recording devices crammed in the locker. Testimony was that conversations that couldn’t not be heard by the naked ear at her locker were transcribed word for word on social media. That would be a very special recording device.

Depends on the walls, like office cubicles it can record really well. Or from the back of a van to someone talking in the front seat. And this was just the cheapest thing on Amazon. If it were between rooms in a well built house then not likely.

It can pick up conversations you can’t hear yourself? I’m impressed if technology has improved to that level for personal type recorders.

I’m sorry you’re not satisfied with USAA. They’ve been nothing but wonderful since I joined, way back in 1991.

I also have been very happy with every experience with them. Yes, we could probably get lower premiums elsewhere, but claim settlements have been a breeze and they were excellent to work with regarding life insurance policies and when settling my father’s estate.

My brother OTOH dropped them some years back to go with a cheaper carrier for his auto and homeowners insurance. And has regretted it ever since because he has had several claims over the years that were big fights to settle.

I have not been to that barn, but just from the pictures, it looks like it is a pretty solid, well-built structure with heavy duty lumber for the walls. It would take a pretty darn sensitive recording device to pick up conversations down the hall and behind closed doors, I would think.

No, I remember one of the officers testifying that it started raining shortly after he arrived on scene. Not a hard rain at first though…

Mild derailment, but on the topic of voice recorders - LA City/County is going through a massive investigation regarding internal corruption revealed through leaked, illegal audio recordings. Apparently those recordings of conversations go back at least a year. It will be interesting to see if charges are pursued against whoever was involved in wiretapping.

I recall that we have been told differing things. She was on a cruise and he was in Europe doing something. They were on a cruise together. She was hanging around the house while he was off in Europe. You get the idea.

Kirby was in both Reykjavik and Paris in July 2019. There are two “couples” reviews on TripAdvisor for these locations. I imagine they were back before the shooting, as Seeker1 claimed in another thread.

If LK found a recorder on Amazon that had a mic that could pick up a conversation in the clubhouse (let’s not even get into the conversations from the office) from inside her helmet in her locker, I really, really hope the brand name comes out in the civil suit because that would be an impressive recorder.

Didn’t Mr. D’s latest filing refer to recording devices being placed beneath benches?

I thought it odd that there were none found during the sweep that MB paid for, but I guess it may depend on what technology was being used.

Maybe he got the locations from the texts SGF is subpoenaing…

Do you mean that the MB/SGF team may now be in receipt of more text message files - or even KK’s transcripts? Is it possible she has turned over the transcripts after all?

If there were a shred of truth to that recorder’s placement, I would say yes, because remember, the clubhouse (ignoring the office conversations again) has become MB and MHG’s living space where they had an expectation of privacy.

The new filing says benches in the stall area of the barn. I am trying to find a pic of the stall area of the barn…

I thought there was a photo that showed a wall of lockers directly across from a row of stalls. It may have been during RC’s testimony and I think I remember her being asked if the horse in one stall was her horse and she said it probably was but she couldn’t be sure from the angle of the pic. I also thought there was some comment that the locker closest to that stall was LK’s. And I do not remember seeing a bench near those lockers.

Doesn’t the door in that photo lead to the clubroom? Or is it to MB’s office?

And I am curious to know who the locker closest to that door belonged to, and if a recording device hidden there could pick up conversations through the wall.

I wonder what the business owners in the area thought of the police when it was testified that they were told about it, didn’t do anything about it and didn’t tell the business owner.
So everyone can just stick recorders in restaurants or other public locations and say the police said its ok.

This second pic shows that same door at the other end of the pic, which I believe is taken from the vicinity of the office door.

In other words, far, far from the lockers, with doors, furniture, tile and myriad other sound altering, muffling materials between that recording device and any conversations Tarshis and MB had in that office.
