I’d likely be guilty of that too.

Please and thank you!
No, I don’t think all people post just to show off (some certainly do). I think most people post things they love, things they are proud of, things that make them happy.
If I got custom boots darn right I would post a pic of them! And I would post pics if my horse no matter if he was fancy or not - he’s fancy to me.
Personally I think designer purses and shoes are a waste of money, but other people love them. Lots of people think horses are a waste of money. Maybe they assume those of us whose feeds are full of horses are just rich people trying to show off.
I post them to my feed so they don’t disappear. I like to sit and watch through my reels to remember the awesome times I had with the horses and remind me how far we’ve come. But that’s just me, everyone uses SM differently I’m sure
Yes some people use it that way, I personally like to post my horses and how much I love them and also encourage people to believe in themselves
I also learned a scooter = a bicycle.
No vacuumers. The only court I know that goes 24/7 is Manhattan Criminal Court - from the show Night Court LOL
BTW Mac was the vacuumer there.
Louboutin shoes are the perfect detail here. They were one of those “aspirational” brands that got mass marketed about 20 years ago along with Chanel lipsticks and LV logo bags, via TV shows like Sex and the City, Paris Hilton, and Real Housewives of Wherever. The era of massively overpriced skanky fashion.
As far as I know Louboutin is still in business, but it’s been a long time since they were truly au courant in North America.
I would not know what was au courant anywhere - unless you dropped me in the middle of some salon or fashion week with 2 knowledgeable fashionistas or designers to constantly whisper in my ear…
That said, I do like checking out designer bags… I never buy one, but there is something about them that makes me just want to… browse. I do not even own a purse - so this odd fascination is a bit bizarre!
Much of Lauren’s “current personality” was apparently informed by Paris Hilton, specifically her life and antics of the late 90’s and early 2000’s. Lauren has referenced her numerous times on social media and the established timeline shows that she really went off the rails in early adulthood shortly before Paris became a media sensation and well-known socialite, who later made a sex-tape. Certain things that Lauren says or puts forth about herself and her lifestyle are very similar or verbatim with what is known about Paris’ life from that time period.
Honestly, that makes sense. I totally see it now you mention it. Much of our sense of style and identity is formed in late adolescence and early 20s. For most of us, that then gets moderated in our late 20s and 30s as we move into other phases of life, careers and parenting in particular.
For people who don’t really move into either careers or parenting, and even for some that do, it’s certainly possible to hang on far too long to a style that worked for us at age 21. Especially if we also don’t really move in a social world that gives us any feedback.
When I look at fashion videos by bloggers in their 20s and 30s, they refer to the styles of circa 2000 as “Y2K sleeze” a bit nostalgically as a retro thing, but in a way that makes it clear that young people aren’t seriously dressing like that these days.
Paris however had serious real money behind her, a decent sense of business, and as my mother (rather surprisingly) pointed out, Paris drank but didn’t do other drugs, so was spared the spectacular flame outs of her party buddies.
Seriously imitating the public persona of Paris Hilton and making yourself into a cut rate copy of her and hanging on to it into your 40s is not however retro or clever or ironic.

Ok so what do you and @ekat call actual scooters?
And yet even Paris managed to become a functional adult

I call a scooter a scooter!
For example, this is a scooter. But this exact same thing, same color and everything, was a motorcycle on that Stupid Captcha thing.
Scooter (not a motorcycle):
Eee. That gives me a bad flashback to a couple of winters in Florida when I had to use a Vespa to get back and forth to the horse show from the nearby farm. That thing was flat out dangerous. Lol.

Ekat’s scooter is prettier. I do not consider them bicycles.
Bicycle:

Yes. Because most of her persona on TV was a performance. As is true for every celebrity and even online personality. That’s why it’s so disastrous for those young people who take the performance as reality and try to model their own lives on what they see onscreen.

That is what floors me. Isn’t she a bit, uh - old to be trying to market herself as a fashion diva social media influencer? Really chick - grow up.
There are social media influencers of all ages, you’d be surprised. There’s even an entire genre of older men who are fashionistas with huge followings!
Re: fuel cans for water. There is plastic that is food safe and plastic that is not food safe. I would not put water that was for consumption in a fuel can of any colour, no matter how convenient it may be for travel, pouring, etc. Wash water would be fine, I guess, but not drinking water.
There are loads of food safe ones in/on the various pet stores and sites.
